i was looking through my collections and i was wondering how to display Alternators.

these buggers have the most intricate Alt mode details ever, but the robot modes aren't too bad too. but unless you have 2 of each, you know you only got 1 shot at displaying it in either mode (unless also you keep yours MISB).

so how do you Alt collectors do it? Alt mode, to show of the intricate details of the car itself, or Robot mode, to display the marvelous feat of engineering that Hasbro/Takara designers put into each of these amazing TFs?

Well it depends how much display space you have. Alt Modes take up less space, while Robot modes take up more.

I find the best way is to alternate them month to month on their shelf. Half in alt mode in front and half in robot mode in the back.

I also get to transform them regularly as a added bonus thanks to my display method too.

I display mine in bot mode like I do with most of my TFs. And I actually have the Alts in the back row raised up above the ones in the front so you can see them better. It's all about the robot for me.

Right now all my TFs are displayed in robot mode, by character. All my Alts are on a single shelf, except for Alt Prime, who is on my OPshelf. Alt Jazz (Meister w/ Reprolabels set) is with my other Jazz figs, and G1 Tracks is w/ Alt Tracks on the Alts shelf. Confusing, I'll try to post a pic.

Most Alts have at least one repaint, so I keep one version of each mold in alt mode and the other in robot mode. In cases where I only opted for one of a mold, I... Alternate.

All I have are 4. Rollbar is in Robot Mode. The rest are in car mode because Grimlock is a pain to transform, Sunstreaker looks better in his Viper form, and Rodimus is still in his package.

Mine are all in robot mode, like the rest of my collection. But I really need to clear more shelf space to display them properly, as right now they are bunched together quite tightly...

All of my BT's and Alts are displayed in Alt car mode except for ravage XK who is just so awesome in bot mode that car mode, as nice as it is, doesn't do the design justice. The thought gone into the design is just pure genius. Ravage is probably my fav alt.

Smokescreen and Tracks in robot mode.
Hound and Sideswipe in car mode.

So half and half.

Well, i use nissan cars. They're good, cheap, easiest to drive and very comfortable.

What gave you that idea? My display contains at least 4 brands. Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Subaru. One of each.

You identified the 350Z correctly.

But the white car is a souped-up old model Honda Accord. (early 90s?) Did that as a favor to a friend, whose so much into anything Honda. I'm not a Honda fan myself.

But you correctly guessed my affinity towards Nissan anyway.

My bad, the huge rims and the front just led me to believe it was an R32.

Yeah. There are some angles that make this car look like Skyline.

Same here. It's a good system - no if only I could find Rumble and Ravage (v2)....
If I pack them in I can keep it all on only two book shelves....

I have the moulds that I have only one of in robot mode (bar Dead End who looks better in alt mode) and doubles (like Swindle) also stay in alt mode.

My Alternators stays in alt mode most of the time.
