Transformers that you didn't like so much but grew on you....

Here is a thread, name the Transformers that when you got them you didn't really like them but over time they grew on you...and vice versa Transformers you really liked but have grown to loathe.
For me the only Transformers that have grown on me are CLA Astrotrain and CLA Hot Rod for no other reason other than I now realize that next to CLA Jetfire and CLA Optimus Prime most transformers seem like crap.

Guys I don't really like...
CLA Megatron - I guess it was the whole transforming gun thing that I really liked but the more I looked at him in robot mode the more I just hated him. The wings are an eye sore and the colors are atrocious. He's the only Classic I no longer display with the rest. Just a really ugly bot.
CYB Soundwave - He was actually the first Transformer I bought when I restarted my collection and I originally thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread, but the longer I have owned him the more I notice all his flaws. He feels brittle and I am afraid of breaking him. His joints are too stiff and his calves tend to slide out if you put any pressure on him so that he looks like he needs to take a mean pee. And I hate how the cockpit just flops around on his arm in robot mode. His alt mode is alright but I can never get his legs to slide back in the way they are supposed to.

I still don't much like Classics Astrotrain and Hot Rod, but while at first I disliked Megatron I now think he's pretty cool.

I usually only buy figures that I really want. My biggest disappointment this year were the Revoltech Prime and Magnus figures. I bought them online so I did not get the chance to see them in person first. They are way too small. In fact, they are not the 6" as advertised, more like 4 and a half. I sent mine back to BBTS and they were very gracious about the return. They even gave me store credit for the return shipping.

Gen 1 Megatron was one figure I thought that I 'should' own and at the time didn't think he was anything special. Over time though I've grown to appreciate the design and now he's one of my favourite figures. The attention to detail and heck, making a gun look like a passable robot scores loads of points in my opinion.
I used to be a big fan of RID, but Magnus and Prime were a pain in the arse. Sure the figures have great articulation, but disassembling Prime became an annoyance and Magnus was freaky looking. As much as their combined mode looked great, it didn't hold together very well.

Robotech Prime was that small? Well I ordered him too, but I like small toys, unless the detail is bad?

At first I wasn't sure if I liked the classics line but after I got classics Prime, I liked them and now I have a lot of them.
*I used to have some Beast Wars then started my collection again when the Cybertron line came, the only Transformers ?I have now are Cybertron and Classics....i either lost my Beast Wars or they are all in pieces hidden some where in a box.*
My favorite character is Soundwave and I'm still trying to get over the whole diaper thing on the Titanium one because I really want it.

My first ever cyb/gf tfs were GF Starsctram and Soundwave.
I loved Starscream instantly, (who wouldnt) but I must admit I didnt think much of Soundwave. Now I love Soundwave, he's a great idea, maybe not perfect (heck I dunno aobut the rest of you guys, but it took me months to totally crack his transformation back into alt mode) but he is a really good reimagining of the charecter. And Lazerbeak is brilliant. And Im so very glad I got the GF version, with all the right paint apps.
My experiance with cybertron is, especilly with the scouts and deluxes, is that the less interested you are in the toy, the mroe surprisingly fun it is. At one point the only ones I could find that I didnt have were Backstop and Landmine. Turns out they are (IMO) really fun toys. And Cyb Swindle... one of my fav small tfs of all time.
I dont think there are any tfs I've bought, liked, then grown to loath. although classics Jetfire's far from perfect posability, and sightly floppy alt mode made him a little bit of an anti-climax.

I painted the orange caps and the Inside of the wings (appart from the bits you can see in gun mode) black. It makes a HUGE difference, the wings just sort of fade into the background and I barely notice them now.
The one thats grown on me most is Cybertron Shortround. at first I thought it was ok, nothing special but over time I've come to love it. As for ones that I've gotten bored of... Universe Devastator (RID landfill). I used to think it was great, but appart from bonecrusher (RID wedge)they aren't that impressive, and the combined form is a bit unstable and has pretty poor hands

I was very hesitant to pick him up. I didn't buy the concept much and don't like the current history with him. Plus the 'toon was unwatchable. However, when I picked him up on clearance, he became rather fun to fiddle with. I still pick him up from time to time. I like a lot of the things they did with him. ANd he is a very decent counterpart to my Unicron.
Speaking of UNicron, that's one that I would say I haven't come to loath, but one I was excited to buy and I've grown to dislike. No, not the planet eater, but the smaller version from the Cybertron line. He just sits there. His alt mode is a bit wierd (is he a tank? Is he a hovercraft?) ANd the face is a bit too...I don't know, goulish?.. for my tastes.

at first i didnt care for the titaniums and procrastinated forever on picking them up...now i have all but cheetor. Perhaps my appreciation of these stems from the fact that i've left them all displayed misb. I even love that f'd up version of soundwave.

And goddamn open em! Release them from their plastic and cardboard prisons!
Or sell me the ones I want cheap.

I renamed mine Bludgeon. Give him a sword & ignore the horns and the resemblance is pretty good.

10th Primal and Beast Megatron. As some may know, I'm anti-beasties or beast modes for that matter, but those two are exceptions above and beyond what I expected of them. Megatron is just a great looking figure and a somewhat standable T-rex, while Primle even with his simplistic transformation is a very fun figure with a unique weapon of choice. Noise Maze and C-Unicron were also two that I thought would eat crap but proved me wrong.

I like all my Transformers one way or the other. The only one that ever fell out of favor with my was Cyb. Thundercracker cause he broke so easy, and I never have repaired him yet.
Does this count? I wasn't planning on getting Classics Mirage, but he was on sale on BBTS, and since I got a few other guys, I figure why not, and by getting him and Hot Rod, I actually finished getting all the new Deluxe Auto Molds. Well anyway, I got Mirage tonight, and dang, I seriously think he might be the best out of the line in terms of posability. And his alt. mode is really good too. Is there anyone in the deluxe class more posable than this guy?
I also got Cybertron Lugnutz tonight, and I figure he'll grow on me. While the transformation is quite intricate, should have been for a larger figure, as it really hinders posability. Really cool alt. mode though.
Oh, and Optimus Minor grew on me. Awsome little basic
