Ok, I just finnished cleaning my Starscream. He no longer has the stupid silver nose cone and now has the proper blue one. While I was doing it two questions popped into my head.

1. Why the heck did Hasbro give him the blue nose cone just to paint over it?

and

2. Does Skywarp have a purple nose cone under the black?

Skywarp looks so good and I don't want to experiment on him just to end up ruining the georgeous paint job on this amazing figure. Does anybody know?

I think his nose cone was silver so that it looked "realistic"
But a white plane with red stripes and crap already looks pretty unrealistic. why even try?

Because Starscream is cool and show planes are pretty.

Personally I think the silver looks better than the blue would (though I havnt seen him with the blue cone, so if you could provide pictures, Id like to see). As for skywarp, Im prety certain his nose cone isnt purple underneath, on the grounds that whereas US SS clearly has blue plastic when you look inside then ose cone, MP SW dosnt have a learly different coloured plastic inside.

To be honest, my only real complaint about US SS's paintscheme is the complete lack of paint (or apropriatly coloured plastic) used on the wing fin joints, knees and other bits, which stand out like a sore thumb in alt mode.

I just got SkyWarp this weekend. Now I have all 3.
The Takara StarScream is my stand in ThunderCracker for now, and will probably be sold off once an official TC is confirmed and paid for.

However looking at the two in the case and the one waiting to join, I'm conflicted with how to pose him.

From the waste up these figures are great, but the legs offer such limited range that It's hard to find 3 different stances that also look good.

I know it's off topic but any ideas?

I had a hard getting my SS to stand up on his own so I've got him on the display stand in bot mode so both feet are off the ground.

I got all three on the stand for 3 reasons.

1- It came with them

2- I din't trust those feet

3- Jets should fly

I just hate the limited frange in the legs, and realy have know idea why they have hip swivels when the front hip pannels overlap the sides of the abdomen?

I have my MP Starscream with a bunch of other figures, so having him just stand there menacingly isn't a big problem for me.

But ... I do wish they made those legs better. What stinks is that the problem still exists even if you take off his "swords". Maybe if you had one in jet more the setup would be more dynamic? I dunno.

I was thinking that for SkyWarp, cause well, GOD DAM!

But it's a 1x1 case and I'm try to keep them on 1 shelf as MasterPieces I feel look best behind glass.

Then there's the fact that I'm completely out of room too!

I'm thinking Starscream's nose cone is silver and not blue because they were going for the cartoon look. If I recall, his nose cone was blue on the toys, but same color as the jets body on the cartoon. I guess they reasoned silver was more accurate.

Maybe they knew kitbashers were going to customize, so they went ahead and made the plastic blue underneath. Just a thought.

I think it's so he looks like how he did in the cartoon, his nose con was grey.

I have MP SS in front in jet mode (on his stand) and MP US SS and MP SW in robot mode behind.

If you want a good way to pose them in a semi stable and dynamic way, pose them on the stand, using the jet mode missiles and see through suport as things to wedge/lean em on.

MP Skywarp's nosecone is purple on the inside. Not sure if it's painted or if it's the plastic, but it's definitely purple.

Gosh darn it! He's right!

First time I looked, I was lazy, looked deeper second time and reliase that the paint goes a lot further in than MP US SS.

Easy fix, just pop off those little hip panels and trim them. Mine has better articulation now because of it. HTH

Does anyone know what the swiveling pieces are for on the top of his upper arms. They have an indentation in both ones. They serve no purpose that I know of, perhaps shoulder pads? I need a confirmation please.

Yeah, those pieces are probably for ceremonial garb. We did see pictures 1.5 years ago of MP Starscream with a crown from Takara. I believe the TF Club or some other entity is planning to release the coronation cape and crown.

I wouldn't be surprised if Takara releases their own version of a perfect MP Starscream with the same stuff.
