Need suggestions for how to....

Clean an old, and dirty transformer figure, without screwing up the stickers?

I have been wanting a G1 headmaster Hardhead figure, and someone else does too; there are a couple on ebay right now, one is in slightly better condition, but at a higher price, and someone else has already bid on it. I highly doubt i would have enough money to get that one.

The other one, the seller says one piece looks to have been broken, and glued back, but looks and moves fine, and other than that, is in great condition. Though it DOES look rather dirty, and i am a cleanliness freak, which is why when possible, (or affordable!) i only go for MOSC/MISB figures.

I recall a thread about how to clean the toys, and some people had great ideas, but they were talking about newer transformers, of which everthing is painted, no stickers.

Or if i DO get the dirty one, (or any other loose G1 figs.) should i just do whatever is needed to get it clean, and if the stickers get damaged, buy new ones from reprolabels?

Any suggestions/ideas would be appreciated.

Clean up the dirty one and whack on some Reprolabels.

Trust me. You'll get more satisfaction in bringing a dirty war torn back to pristine condition. 8)

A small paintbrush is very handy for cleaning out those cracks and crevices. I have a lot of watercolour brushes lying around, and they've proved ideal for this sort of thing.

I won a Decepticon Clone set recently and found it was very dirty.
I sprayed some Fantastik into a cup and then rubbed the cleaner onto the figs with a q-tip, using a soft bristle toothbrush on the face.

The decals on it, which where in pretty good condition, were fine afterwards. I would say just don't let whatever you use to clean it with have too much contact with the decals and you should
be pretty safe.

Thanks for the suggestions, i hope n one else will bid on the figure described. I just hope that if i can ever get a G1 Octane figure, that it will have good stickers, and that i would manage to keep them that way, since the reprolabels for him cost about 2X-3X as much as what most of the others do...
