hi. I just got s movie thundercracker. I was able to transform him fine. Just one question. Is the stud underneath the cockpit when it slides up on the chest supposed to fit all the way into that hole in the rod connecting it? Because I tried applying pressure, but it wouldn't go in.

I don't think so.

I have two regular Starscreams, the G1 repaint, plus Thundercracker. I can assure you, the cockpit in robot mode should snap down securely onto the connecting rod with a very satisfying click.

Admittedly, the first time it can be a little stiff - but, like splaying Movie Scorponok's claws or disconnecting MP Megatron's shoulders, once you've done it once it's easier to do again.
However, it's not an absolutely integral part of the transformation, so if you're unsure I'd probably play it safe. No point risking breakage.

well, i've looked at the galleries of movie starscream, and his plate does not go all the way in.

It's difficult to tell. Perhaps they're mis-transformed. Certainly in the instructions it's not mentioned.
But the fact is that on all four Starscreams I own, the post on the underside of the cockpit snaps into the hole on the connecting rod.
Come on, surely someone else on here can back me up?

SS/T-crack does have some less than intuitive sliding pieces in the chest and I would agree that everything should come together nicely, assuming other chest pieces have manuevered correctly.
I also have all current (repaint) versions of the SS mold.
