What's Up With Ironhide?

My Voyager Ironhide has a free rotating right shoulder and a ratcheted left shoulder. Is this normal?

got the same issue with mine, as well as problems keeping the foot parts of IH down when in truck mode. (they keep pointing up from the back.) To shorten it out: Ironhide's one hell of a error-magnet. So many issues and problems that I wonder, why didn't HasBlow fix the weakspots.

anyways... I've had the same probs and more, yes. :-(

huh.. i knew there were a couple of issues with alot of the figures... movie brawls arm pegs being so loose for example.. but ive not heard of this one with ironhide.. mines totally fine oddly enough.. only thing i really had to do was super glue the window/roof/back section to the peg behind his head cos it kept popping off. but apart from that, mine seems to be fine :s

luck of the draw i guess.

Gravestorm, have you tried holding the 'heel' and clicking the 'toes' a position or two along the ratchet? One of the heels sticks out a bit in truck mode but as it's underneath I don't really care.

My Leader Brawl turret wouldn't click into place in robot mode so it would keep falling over to his right. I openned him up, cut off part of the ratchet and then lost the spring that made it all work. I WAS SO GUTTED. But then I managed to fix it by using half the spring from some mini spring loaded pliers so now he's perfect. A tale of woe with a very happy ending!

Yep, my Ironhide's arms are the same way. One side is ratcheted and one side is smooth.

I think he's designed with one shoulder ratched to hold the weight of his gun when you put the 2 pieces together.

ehhh, i think i remember the same with mine, though i barely could notice it since the joints were so tight. but i could feel incrementing "clicks" on one arm while the other just swivels on its tight axis.

i really dunno actually, haven't played around with it, got so frustrated with so many issues (broken automorph, waist peg connector hard to pin down on bot mode, etc.) that i returned it inside its box with the hope to sell it soon locally, as soon as Ironhide Premium hits our shores. i still have one IH left MISB, just in case Premium IH is made of worse suck than the original incarnation.

Mine ratchets on both arms, and the Automorph works well enough.

His nice and tight everywhere except the thigh joints.

Don't know why so many people have had so much trouble with him.

Hey, I had a similar question (and didn't want to start another thread).

Have people been having similar problems with OFFROAD Ironhide??

I just picked him up last night, but haven't opened him yet.

Mine was the same, though the stiffness of the ratcheting , and the sharpness of the clicks really bothered me. Sounded like something was breaking every time I twisted it. I thought something was wrong, so I decided to take out the screw and have a look.

Unfortunately the screw would only come halfway out, and now it's stuck like that. If I'd known it was supposed to be ratcheted in the first place I wouldn't have bothered.

It's a really poopy figure, but one that seems to be popular.

*sigh* yeah, i agree with you on the quality of the figure. what's more painful is the effort and money i spent tracking down this shortpacked figure in our shores. and in the end, Ratchet (who was more common and IMHO less popular) ended up being the better figure in terms of durability, poseability and fun.

Interesting thought. Perhaps that's it but I'm sure all the pics I've seen with him combining his weapon shows him holding it on his righ (unratcheted) arm. The way they come attached to him means it's easier to remove the left and stick it on his right arm. As if the gun is so heavy it needs a ratchet - but they do seem to put ratchets on when it really isn't necessary.

I totally disagree with you there! A friend has Ratchet and I think he looks goofy (and a bit lower-half-heavy, like Jazz) and I love my Ironhide. I think he's fantastically poseable and looks great.

Of course that doesn't explain why Overcracker's IH has ratchets in both. Anyone else have identical shoudlers?

-Bumblethumper-
I too found the sharp clicks distressing! Does the screw stop you transforming him?

i forget if i mentioned in my earlier post.. and im too lazy too look back... but mine has ratchets in both shoulders.. and the automorph works fine, and the waist peg holds nice and snug... my only real gripe with it is that ironhides lightpiping in the head aint so hot..

The light piping is an issue it seams the plastic is to opaque to let the light in.

However I did manage to get this pic, which I like to pull out every so often just for kicks.

Did that with a key chain flashlight to the back of his head.

I'll have to say. I kinda feel the IH haters a little after I got Offroad IH. My original IH is flawless, but the Offroad version is giving me trouble.

He keeps coming apart at the windshield. It just keeps popping off. Never once has it happened on my other one. Loose thighs. Automorph is faulty. I got lucky with my 1st one.

Such a great mold, though. One of the most satisfying transformations eVArrr!

yeah, my regular flavoured Ironhide had the same problem with the windsheild... always pops off when your transforming it huh?.. i just put a dot of super glue on the peg and slotted it back in... never come off since :)

I didn't even realise he had piped eyes till now...

His windshield has recently started popping off so maybe I'll glue it later. I glued Landmine's kneecaps on cos they pinged across the room every time!
