Pete@Botcon has confirmed on the Transformers Collectors Club forums that the new character, Bug-byte, is indeed the mysterious leader referred to in the Botcon brochure.
So with that in mind, this may change people's guesses as to which characters will be used in the souvenier sets as well as the free attendee exclusive.
Keep watching Seibertron.com as more details about the Botcon figures are released!

I'm still betting that one of the other "secret exclusives" will be a Nemesis Prime repaint of classics Optimus (a la pre-BW Megatron last year). Of course, I thought that this "leader" of the 2007 exclusives would be Nemesis Prime... go figure.

Interesting news, but not totally unexpected.
A repaint of Prime as Nemesis Prime is still probable. Maybe BugByte has control over Nemesis's spark (ala BW Megatron and Rampage). Either way, I am looking forward to how the set and storyline for it turns out.

Hmmm... now that would make for an interesting convention comic!

My guess? A repaint of Movie-Starscream. The face is already very insect-like, and it would make sense to have another jet to lead the team. Would this go against the 'rules,' in using a current sculpt as an exclusive? Sure. Would I put Hasbro past that? Never.

I figured Bug Byte to be a repaint of Bumblebee....

So what's this mean, that Bugbyte will be the Voyager class figure in the boxset? Would that mean Dreadwing or whoever he is will just be another Seeker then?
Man it would be nice if they just put pics of these things online. People might like to see what they paid an arm & leg for.

I didn't see the brochure, but does it say "Leader" or "Leader Class"? It could still be a white BB that is in command of this set, just not the leader sized figure?
Or I've had way to much Easter candy already!

So what's the current speculation on the other molds? Thundercracker, Thrust and Dirge are no-brainers, but I was thinking Dreadwing will be a repaint of Jetfire with a remolded head. Seems to fit his G1 form. Bug-byte has me stumped.

The last version of Bug-bite was an e-hobby repaint of Bumblebee in white, so conventional wisdom says that the new version will be a repaint of Classics Bumblebee

well, it could always be the old beastwars transmetal waspinator mold too.

I'm still going with the majority and saying it's BugBite(BumbleBee), Dreadwind(Skyfire), Thrust(Ramjet), Dirge(Ramjet), and Thundercracker(Starscream). I'm also hoping for Nemesis Prime(Optimus Prime) and Darkwing(Starscream) as the convention exclusives, like most people. I just hope they remold both Dreadwind and Darkwing so that they can combine like their G1 counterparts. If not, then I'll take Sunstorm instead. But I'm hoping for all them anyways.

That would be cool.

I'm holding out for an Alternator Volks

...but considering the source, it'll probably be a key chain repaint

Having them combine would be wicked cool! Though, I don't see it happening this time around.

While Movie Starscream getting a repaint so soon after it's release would be interesting for a club exlcusive, I was under the impression that all the repaints this year were of classic moulds. Don't be surprised if we see some of those awful Classics mini-cons as club exclusives.

pretty sure it will be a white Bumblebee to match the E-hobby version.
Honestly a different change up.

I agree, I couldn't see it being anything else. I just hope that they have a new head sculpt. Maybe a homage to the original Bumblebee figure with the face plate? Afterall, he did look a little "buggish" (besides his alt mode, of course)!

Yeah a face plate headsculpt would be really cool and set the figure apart enough that it wouldn't seem like another repaint.

I know everyone keeps bringing up Dreadwing but I already thought there was a classics Dreadwing. He's a minicon in the Predator Attack Team with Snarl and Overbite.

Hmmm.... Well, I guess he's only a mini-con, so the character must be fair game! After all, since when do mini-cons count?
Okay, maybe that was a bit harsh toward the mini-guys, but in all honesty, I don't think it matters too much. It's happened before. Plus, we could always say its a namesake type backstory if we need one (such as BW Megs and Primal).
