Would you buy a new universe figure packed with a idw comic.

I kind of asked this question in another topic but thought I would ask it in it's own topic. This stems form the G.i.joe 25th Anniversary comic book two packs which I think come with a devil's due G.i.joe comic but if I'm wrong I'm sure someone will correct me. So I assume that hasbro is on good terms with idw publishing and make some sort of deal like hasbro has done with devil's due for the G.i.joe 25th Anniversary figures. To include a idw comic with two deluxe figures from the new universe line and for the ultra class figure maybe include one of the spotlight comic of that figure. What do you guys think would buy them this way.

A Marvel Legends kind of thing, yeah that'd be cool.

GIJoe gets a comic
Marvel gets a comic
Star Friggin Wars gets a comic(then again they get everything anyway)
So I ask, why does Hasbro constantly stiff TFs!?!
Armada and Energon, little comic book, I loved them! BW 10th new Prime and Megs, a small copy of The Gathering, terrific!
It's a good Idea that's working for everyone else. Come on Hasbro, we read the reports saying we're a top earner for you!
Just once do more than the bear minimum

Sure. Maybe some classic Marvel stories with new cover art too. TFs deserve some comic love.

No! If there is a comic packed with a figure I won't buy it!

I certainly wouldn't say no to them, though it depends if they were original stories or mini-reprints.

It would depent too if the cost was higher. I don't want to pay 15 bucks for a 10 deluxe just for a comic book that I don't really care about.

I was kind of thinking this. Except, at the same time, I was thinking it would be cool to see the G1 Autobots cars on cards instead of boxes. I don't know why, I just think that would be cool. I was thinking it might be cool to have a comic in there with them.
EDIT: Forgot to say when I originally posted this, but of course I know, this would never happen.

I see what you did there!
I think comics should be included in the toys. It helps to get the story out to the kids and wraps them up in the mythos.
The comics should directly relate to the character bought.

Entirely depends upon two conditions:
- do I want the figure very much
- can I get the figure only with comic
I'm not in the habit of reading TF comics. I find the current IDW comics to high strung and adrenalin driven. There seems to be no time two relax for a few minutes and just kick back.

IF the comic doesn't push the price of the toy up, fine. If it costs extra, it would put me off. I don't want to pay extra for bird cage liner.

Maybe if the figures were decent repaints or if the comics had some continuity or story arc to follow.
The SW ones are disappointing because they have stories that are tough to follow unless you've read the others in the arc. Maybe characters from a certain series packed in an assortment wave.

wouldn't mind it if it covered the character in the package and in the case of Universe perhaps introduces new comers to that world.
Since Animated has a show geared toward it and a younger audience, Universe should get a comic tie in and that way we can see Classics/Universe get a story in addition to figures. I know the club did one but its over now. I did like the art they did for it though.

Simply put? Hell yeah. I don't care if its a cheesy comic, any bonus and story behind the figure is always welcome. It makes the figure more appealing and keeping one MISB for years to come sounds like such a great idea.
Ah, MISB is so nice.

It's not a bad idea for Universe, but it's not a bad idea in general.
I'd think it'd be nice to see mini comics featuring whatever figure is in the box. Nothing extravagant. The main focus is still the toy. But it would be a great little extra to help suck kids into the whole TF lore, and it's nice to get that extra bonus inside the box.
Along those lines, I'd also like to see them doing a better job on the little toy charts you used to get with the toy. I used to spend ages poring over those little catalogues, and thinking about the transformers I wanted to get next. Recent examples of these charts have either been absent or lacking. I also think it'd be something if they put the tech specs on collectable cards, with other stuff like a character bio and illustration.

I agree, Hasbro should exert their repaint habit into packaging a reprint of a TF comic (Marvel, Dreamwave or IDW) with a multi-pack of decos based on the respective comic.

The other day I order my first G.i.joe 25th Anniversary - Comic 2-Pack of torch and ripper. I will be able to give a better idea of weather or not I think this is idea that hasbro should go for or if it is just another gimick like so many in the past.

That'd be a neat idea, specially if it was something new and original, because there are only so many Transformer comics out there, and I don't know how many of those focused mainly on one character(well, maybe the UK's did, I've only read a few of those).
One thing I loved about the older Marvel Legends(which my brother collects) is that if I didn't know who a character was, the comic would more often than not enlighten me about who that character was.

I don't think hasbro just included at mini comic with G.i.joe 25th Anniversary version of the comic two pack. I'm not sure about star wars or marvel. But I will be able to answer more in a week or so. I can't wait to see how they handle this presents a whole new world of possibility if this turns out to be any good.
