The BotCon Set

Are they sold out already?
I had some issues with my bank lately (i.e. my card expired and they mailed the new one to the wrong address), so I have been unable to register for BotCon up til now. I'm faxing in the registration tomorrow morning, but I'm concerned that I keep hearing the boxed set might be sold out already. What's the point of a Primus package without the boxed set? Since the only difference between Primus and Protoform packages is the boxed set and the awards dinner, if I register for Primus package, but the boxed set is sold out, will i still have to pay full Primus package price? That seems rather dirty. Anyway, here's hoping I can still get my boxed set. The Primus package really isn't worth the money without it.

Only the boxed Iacon (non-attending) packages have been listed as sold out to insure there will be enough boxed sets for attending members.
Nothing about the Primus package boxed sets being sold out has been mentioned, but the loose set that you could buy with the Primus package is sold out.

Ah, thank you. My mind now rests easy. I have my heart set on Goldbug, I simply must have him. Good Guy Starscream will make a fine Sky/Jetfire as well. The rest, they're just icing on the cake. I am saddened that there won't be a Good Guy Megatron though. I feel cheated that he got left out of the lineup.

Your not the only one disappointed there is no Good Guy Megatron. I'd rather have opted out Grimlock (not that I don't like him mind you) for Megatron.

I believe that the "good guy" Megatron will be one of the attendee exclusives.

Yeah. I think he's supposed to be the smaller Energon Megatron in silver and blue. There's also rumored to be a Black Classics Rodimus with "evil twin beard", which I'm thinking is the free attendee exclusive.

RUMOR!!!! Botcon 2008 Sets All Sold Out!?!

There is a rumor floating around the Official Transformers Collector's Club Member Forums that all the
Botcon sets are sold out, or will be sold out this week!
At this time there is no confirmation from club officials and no official posting on the club site, but this looks to be a very good possibility.
If this is something that could effect you, you might want to get that order form in as soon as you can, or face the possibility of having to pick any of these exclusives that you want off Ebay.

If this is true...Whoa will there ever be a lot of sets being sold on Ebay...
And I feel sorry for folks who want to go to the convention and can't grab an exclusive set.

Geez, I'm late with this, I better make sure we didn't report it like two days ago or something.

If this ends up being true, I'll be canceling my trip to Botcon. I can't get to a fax machine until this Saturday.

Last year, I'd be crying and kicking myself right now...
This year?... oh well. I think I'll take my chances on e-bay.

Not to burst anyones bubble...but yes, they are SOLD OUT as of yesterday at around Noon U.S. EST. I spoke to Angie yesterday about my friend getting in and of what they still had available as per the classes and she informed me that they had just sold out of them 5 min prior. Sorry though....still see you there if you're going to go!

I used to view this set in comparison to the 2005 Descent Into Evil set - cool concept, but not enough to sell out all the sets. The club still has 2005 sets for sale.
Now I am seeing this more like the 2006 Dawn of Future's Past set - just enough to go around but no overstock.
I wonder if the high demand for the 2007 set has affected the selling of this new 2008 set. I mean, the 2007 set was the hottest Transformers set around last year and a lot of people made good money reselling extras. Maybe that has splilled over to this year's set.
No matter what the status of the boxed sets, I sure hope they still honor the sales for those who paid for Iacon packages.
I'm sure these figures will not fetch the same prices as a Botcon Thundercracker on eBay, so those planning to pick up these figures on the aftermarket will probably pay similar markups seen with the 2006 set.
I just hope there are plenty of souvenior sets available (unlike 2005 and 2006).

Meh.. no big deal. I don't like this year's set. Last year's set was a tough act to follow.

soooo disappointed. I'm waiting on my tax refund to come in for this (that's my budget for the show this year) and blam, gone. Very surprising. Thing is, I would just get a protoform package but that doesn't include the "awards party." Am I to have to spend $285 now just to get my butt into one of the funnest parts of the show and NOT get any toys

Without getting a set, I'd just pay $10 or whatever to enter the convention with the general public. I was at Botcon 2007 and spent most of my time in the dealer room anyway.

Damn I lucked out I ordered Mine a week and a half ago.I called and confirmed that I am getting my set the next day after I faxed it.I like the set of course if I didn't like it I wouldn't of bought it.The down side is it would be nice if all the attendees that want this set could at least get one.I'm sure most the sets want to non attendee scalpers that hope to pull off mark ups like last years sets.I guess its the way of the world.

I was there too and the dealer room was probably where I spent the LEAST amount of time. Mainly because I had spent all my money on the souvenier figs/etc. and needed to save enough to have gas to get home.

In about 7 hours, I'll be faxing in my registration. I'm so gonna call and inquire in a day or two. Is the Awards Dinner still worth the extra costs without the boxed sets? Or should I just downgrade to Protoform?

Hey guys...
You know, the BotCon site STILL has not said anything about a lack of sets for Primus Package holders.
It was a matter of like 2 hours from when the Iacon Sets were out till that message went up.
FP isn't always on the ball with info, but I'd think that maybe this information would be up by now if it were true.

Er, hate to break it hear like this...
I spoke to the Fun Pub reps this morning.
Primus Packages are indeed SOLD OUT. Gone.
There is supposedly an update coming at the end of the week to provide, 'Alternative Options'. I got no explaination to what that means, but the response was in answer to my question of 'Will there be more sets available?'
Who the F would have thought this would be the year/set to sell out like this?

I am thinking more and more about scalpers with this set...
I am not overly thrilled or upset about it. It is s a 'meh' I 'll get it as a souvenir type thing, but in no way do I see this as something that I must have, or that I think will garner me big bucks...
I hope the people who attend can get one if they want one.
