I figured out after looking at my megar movie collection that these figures aren't that great and they have a large amount of flaws as well. So I thought I would ask you guys on the forums why do you like the movie figures.

I love the aesthetics and I love the intricate transformations.
Realistic alt modes, and bot modes that look nothing like any transformer before it are also pros for the movie line.

Too many repaints, and some lackluster paint app QC on some molds would be my only complaints about the line.

I love them. The designs are great and the new look of the movie characters make it a fresh change. Aside from the main characters in the movie which i love there figures of, I really love the transformers figures that didnt really transform in the movie like longarm and landmine, Or even characters who where not in the movie like the payload figure and arcee. They look great in robot mode. Even the scout figures like air raid warpath storm surge crosshairs. I think they are all kick ass jut like the movie was.

I like the realistic styling of the alt modes and that they are in scale with each other. I also like how the car parts sort of wrap and twist around the robot modes.

Pretty much everything he said except for the repaints, I like all the repaints in addition to everything else.

Really though, maybe I, a Transformer fan enjoy them for these reasons and the fact that they are Transformers, why do all you guys like G1 toys, they only have like, five points of articulation at best, and then there’s Beast wars, I mean those things are just ugly! And the AEC series was so corny and gimmicky, then you’ve got animated and its just Ben Ten robots, that’s just dumb! And then you’ve got classics and they’re robots that turn into outdated objects, I mean, who EVER thought of that!?!?

Really though, the movie line has become one of the most underrated things I have seen lately.

You don't really mean all those terrible things you said, do you?

Naw, of course not! I love AEC, Beast wars, G1 and all those things I named off, I mean if I was serious I may not really like transformers after all.

No matter what you do, some people are just never satisfied.

I like the movie figures for most of the reasons already mentioned - the realistic alt-modes, the character assortment, the new aesthetic for the robot modes, the different size classes (which makes it easier to re-create at least some approximation of the characters as they appear in the movie), the fact that Hasbro's padded the line with NEW molds of new characters (or rather ones who aren't in the movie, anyway) in addition to the standard repaint quota.

^ What he said.

It was nice to see the transformation difficulty come up again. More alternator in design.

I haven't had any QC issues or weak plastic issues with mine. I reckons some of you just have wads of ham where your hands should be

I saw stockade today and I looked at him for at least 3 minutes but I passed on him. I suppose if they use suv design for classics I will get excited but the movie figures just don't do anything for me. Oh well to each there own I guess.

I just got stockade today. I am actually transforming him right now. I also picked up skyblast and elita-one. I have all the target exclusives and just for the record. Longarm is my favorite character and his movie figure is by far the best longarm i have. I love that figure in robot mode. I have 2 of them. I couldnt help myself.

They look realistic and the mess of parts look really makes them look complicated.

New aesthetic. That's pretty much why. I love the more alien look. Love it.

I would ask the same thing about BW or Animated...

Since I've started collecting Alternators, though, I have found myself starting to turn my nose up toward some of the movie figures. I think I'm starting to become a bit of a TF snob where Alternators and MPs are automatically a part of my clique, but only select figures from the other lines are making it in the club...the club where I'm completetly satisfied with the figure. I just hope I don't become a total scale snob next...

Different people look for different things in Transformers. For some, intricate transformations are the dealbreaker, while others like realistic alt.modes or sturdy, blocky robots or even show accuracy. Even in just one figure I can see advantages and disadvantages to the movie line. Take Blackout: he looks good and is fun to transform but he doesn't hold together very well. I think the movie line is liked because people can look past the flaws and enjoy the positives.

I love the movie line, mainly for the aesthetics. Unfortunately Megatron gets a raw deal, especially Voyager size - easy transformation, rubbish vehicle mode - and the Dreadwing/Overcast mode is butt ugly, but other than that it's all good!

Different strokes for different folks! Plus you have to understand that the TFs fanbase stretches from all ages, races, and genders so they make a little something for everybody. I personally like the movie line. Not every single figure is top notch for me but overall i like them! :D

I like them because they are different. They are not all boxed and squared looking. They look complex but there not. I like how each figure has its own identity. They look more of this day and time where as some of the other TF toy lines look they still belong in the 80's with the box looking body forms. Even the lower class of the movie characters like longarm or payload, Even thow they are not in the movie they are still great movie line figures that are in my collection. I love the movie line more then most of the other transformer lines and i have been collecting transformers figures since 1988-89.

I like them because they aren't just lame re-hashes of old, overdone and overused G1 characters like alot of the toys that are coming out recently...

I seem to be odd in that I HATE the main movie line, yet LOVE many of the non movie bots.

Megatron is imo, hands down the single worst TF toy ever, and Bumblebee, Jazz etc aren't far behind, but I consider Longarm to be one of the best TF molds we've ever had.
Same with Landmine, Stockade and Incinerator.
Oh, and the Real Gear.

I'm almost the exact opposite! The only non-movie one I really like is Landmine and I think BB is amazing.

The reason I like the movie range is that the intricate sculpting makes them so much more interested to look at. I also love the way some (like Devastator) look so inhuman - he's like a roboTMNT.

My first responce to the movie line was "what a bunch of crap" But I was a hardcore G1 fan up to Cybertron with exceptions of course. Still don't like Beast Wars no matter how hard I try, but anyway. It took some time, but now I love everyone of the movie toys except for Megatron! I still say Armada Side Swipe takes the cake on biggest P.O.S. My metallic Megatron on the other hand Rocks! Even starscream was a huge disappointment, but now I love those backward legs! I can't wait to see the insane figures to roll out of the TF2 line!

Me too - I just hope they do a good job on the design and don't rush through any of the stages.
