Seems like the only galleries missing from Seibertron are the Animorph toys. But, I wonder... are they really Transformers? I mean, what is the relation to the TF story and are the toys any good? Ok thanks everyone! Cheers! :D

They're like the red-headed and possibly autistic stepchild of the TF family.

I agree with the above statements though I will ashamedly admit that I own some.

Anyone heard about the rumor that the Beast Wars Mutants were originally supposed to be from the Animorphs line but Hasbro dumped them into Transformers line after the Animorphs line was discontinued?

They actually have the Transformers logo on them, because of a cheap ploy by the company to unload some more toys, but there was never any other real link to any Transformers line or lineage.

So, it's a tough one but when in doubt, just ask the man...

Thanks everyone. I just downloaded a torrent of the entire series and in the first episode, some kids are playing a Beast Wars video game that I have never seen before. :P

What about TF Gobots and Playskool TF's? Are they Transformers? Some of these TF offshoot lines are quite confusing hehe.

Animorphs are NOT Transformers. The books were cool when I was a kid, but I am sickened that Hasbro simply slapped the TF name on them. I actually might have bought them, since I enjoyed the books, but I was turned off by seeing them slipped through under the TF name. I also refuse to buy Star Wars TFs. Lines like this are evil and will be the death of true Transformers.

The original Gobots are not in any way related to Transformers. Just like Hasbro imported transforming toy robots from Takara; Tonka happened to import, at the same time, a line of transforming robots called Machine Robo from Takara's main competitor Bandai. Eventually Hasbro bought Tonka and got the naming rights (or what's left) of the Gobot brand in the acquisition. Since they got the naming rights from Tonka, Hasbro did put out a kiddie line for younger children under the GoBot line in their Playskool division. So technically yes they are Transformers but they really don't fall into any of the TF mythos (Energon, Cybertron, etc). For what it is worth, Hasbro also named one of the Minicons in Armada after Leader-1.

Far be it for me to disagree with the great "CP" but once Hasbro slaped the name "Transformers" on the toy box'es of Animorphs they made it a TF toyline.Damn them for doing so

I was under the impression that it was a fact and not a rumor that 4 of the Mutants were originally developed for the Animorphs toyline but were later placed into the Beast Wars line.

I'd be inclined to agree with you. But then we'd also have to count Star Wars Transformers, Transformers 'Gobots' , Marvel Transformers Crossovers, and probably some other stuff as well. In the broadest sense, they're all official Hasbro-branded transformers.

During my stubborn teenage years I refused to count Transformers 'Beast Wars', so it really depends how much of a purist you want to be about it.

I suppose you could file Animorph TFs under Transformer tie-in sublines that just don't count.

Out of curiosity are they in any of the galleries? Might be interesting to have a subsection for all those offshoot abominations. I mean, you might as well record what you already have, right?

If nothing else it might encourage those of us with a nagging morbid curiosity for all things TF to save our money.

I do count Star Wars Transformers and te upcoming Marvel Transformers as Transformer toylines enen thou they have no connection the the TF myths. Its a cross over toyline that is in part transformers.

Transformers Gobots has stronger ties to the TF myth because it has a simular back story to other TF lines.

Animorphs are not Transformers. They are kids who were given the power to change into animals by alien technology. They have no robotic components. It's more like gene-switching and mass displacement. It is like a wizard's polymorph spell, or a shapeshifter. They are called "Transformers" merely because that's one of the few lines that can make the toys effectively.

Personally, I think it's weird to have human toys that transform, as it tends to distort the human proportions. (turning a human into a humanoid robot would be worse, though). BTW, anyone want my Animorphs figures? I have most of the original cast for the good side, but they are just sitting in a box.

They gave the toyline the name Transformers so more people would be interested in it.
I never knew there were toys for these, well that is till I found the TF wiki, I loved the TV show as I was a kid, grate stuff, but it was based of a book?

It was based on several books, more than 20, I think. I only read some of them that I borrowed from a friend at the time. Good stories: kids sticking together through tough times, like some of the older childrens' series, but with aliens, transformation powers, and fighting to protect humanity.
