Energon Downshift Worth Getting?

I've always wanted a Wheeljack, and as every Wheeljack fan knows, the mold has long since been jacked up, and Takara won't remake it.

So, either is sell my left kidney, or I can get Energon Downshift which looks pretty cool in Seibertron's Gallery pics. Anyone have him? Would you recommend him, or should I just move on? Is he a brick, or is he pretty posable and stable? Any comparison pics on how tall he is with either Cybertron/Movie/G1 or Classics figures? Thanks in advance fellow Seibertronians.

In an age of new, space age, concept, pulled out of the sky, alts. This is a nice through back to some days of pimp'n class.
A realistic, everyday alt, with style is a bot not to pass up. One of the best features, the Landau Roof texture!
Like tail fins, a slick idea that'll never come again.

Sorry, I thought this was about the Cybertron version. The Energon figure is pretty cool though. Lots of weapon holding options.

Ya, I'd say I'm awsome enough to hunt for.
In all honesty, E-Downshift / Super Link Wheeljack is a great figure. As much as I love Downshift, if you can get your hands on a SL Wheeljack he's much better

Super Link Wheeljack? What is that?

I too would recommend Superlink Wheeljack (the Takara version of Energon Downshift - has superior colour and paint apps). The closest thing we have to a Classics Wheeljack.

I think you have the Cybertron version in mind here Mr. Evilmus.
Superlink is the japanese version of Energon, or rather, Energon is the westernized version of Superlink, since it originated in Japan and with Takara first.
This means that there are usually slight variations in color schemes, paint apps., and details between the two--sometimes very large, sometimes not--plastic quality can also be different, for ill or good. So it is suggested by those that have both that the Japanese toy version is slightly superior, or vastly, I suppose. I don't have the Japanese version, but I like Downshift as a toy, but if I remember correctly, his feet are rather large, but overall a nice toy!

Dont' know how you would feel about a KO, but the G1 Wheeljack mold will be available some time this month. I started a thread about a couple of weeks ago with pics.

I'd recomend it. and all the energon figures are like bricks because they have the powerlinx thing. good points about this guy he looks G1 by colours and the head. he has gullwing doors. he has a uper and bottom powerlinx modes wich look very cool. weapons and how they clip to the spoiler. extra weapons on shoulders the mini exhuasts. bad point this guy has no hips, they can only swing out. and the paint can wear off but thats god actually for me he no longer look like the castrol rally car and much more like his G1 charater.
all im saying is get him in fact he is a sweet transformer from energon.
now while we are on sunject anyone got prowl or landmine i may be getting them even though not supposed to be buying transformers now (saving up)

His forearms and "thighs", or upper legs, are molded in movie like grey plastic. It looks so muck better than Hasbro's PSG(Pea Soup Green) plastic, but good luck finding one they're not your run of the mill eBay item.

Great looking homage. The Car mode paint scheme is totally Wheeljack.
There are 3 major versions of that mold. Energon Downshift, which has the greenish robot parts, Super Link Wheeljack which has the gray metallic robot parts, and Universe Downshift, which has yellow robot parts.
I think Superlink is the best looking one, but can be hard to come by. Your next best choice would be the Energon version. Universe's yellow parts just have no business in the figure.
All 3 come with 1 energon gun, 1 energon spring loaded blaster + 1 missile, and one removable spoiler.
The robot mode's articulation is a bit compromised for the Powerlinking gimmick. His arms have a ball joint at the shoulders but the movement is quite limited, they do bend at the elbow, but he inds up with really short forearms. His legs are o.k. bend at the knee and rotate below it. can also move up and down and away form the body at the hips. He's got very long feet so he has good balanace.
He can combine with any voyager or Deluxe Autobot from that line to form a bigger robot. He can be legs or torso for the bigger robot.
In Torso mode the inside of his robot mode legs have sculpted arm and fist detail with a hole to hold the weapons. However the arms are just so huge in relation to his head it doesn't look that good.
Now he is a good homage to Wheeljack and he does have a cool car mode. so if you don't have high hopes for articulation, its a good figure.
Again the Super Link version looks the best, but you can stay away from the Universe and its yellow robot parts.

Definitley go for it, as a big Wheeljack fan myself, I feel my purchase was well made, good articulation and veery nice transformation as well as paint scheme. The only reason he's not called Wheeljack is because of the Armada Wheeljack & Hasbro thinking kids would think they were the same character. I haven't seen Superlink Wheeljack but I'm sure it looks very nice.

If you are going with a Hasbro version, make sure to get the Energon version, and not the Universe repaint...

I did a search of the Superlink version and no results. I'm okay with the Energon one despite the greenish-gray parts that have been mentioned.
I never really liked Energon figures other than this guy and G1 colors Starscream (which I am sorry I sold). But, who knows, I may discover other cool toys from the line along the way.

Do you mean Cybertron Downshift? If so by all means get him. I just got Big Daddy and enjoying it. Big daddy is a repaint of the Downshift mold.

Nope, I mean ENERGON Downshift. I have Big Daddy, and he's great. I like his colors more than his original version, Cybertron Downshift. Big Daddy is a very nice figure.

Here's a pic with Movie Deluxe Brawl so you can judge how big he is:

Cool, thanks. He should fit right in with the Classics, Cybertron, and Movie figures then.
