BOTCON 2009 TF Animated Mould Use...

PostPosted: Thu Apr 17, 2008 11:12 am

Would the TF Community be interested in the '2009' BOTCON Set if they used the TF Animated moulds as the basis of the future release? I am sure that they will more than likely be using some of the Animated moulds alongside some Universe moulds. If so it will be a kick ass release that I will surely sign up for and pick up!

Any agreement from the TF Community?

I would prefer another set like last years. More "Classics" figures. There are a great number of repaint/remold possibilities from just the Universe Sunstreaker and Prowl molds. Hasbro said they will do Sideswipe, but there are no guarantees they'll do Red Alert, Bluestreak, Smokescreen, Punch/Counterpunch, and Jazz. I don't think Hasbro will do all those. Anything left over BotCon can release. Along with whatever other "Classics" they come up with. Like C-Unicron as Bludgeon, for example.

I like the way you think my friend. I am sure that the boys at BOTCON will give us a rocking set next year given what they have to play with with what is going to be released this year. CAN'T WAIT!

I like your ideas. Especially Elita One and Broadside super-sized.

Actually, I wish they would scale back the number of figures per con.

Give us a year with 1-3 big, nice toys again.

Not a bad idea. I would like to have a Primus repaint. Alternate Universe evil Primus and all maybe.

The way Botcon is going, anything is possible. I think the possibility depends on how well Animated sells, (LOL, i know).

I like the idea, but seeing as Ive never been to Botcon before, everything is a treat for me. I like the idea of 1-3 Big nice bots, but 2007's set was beyond awesome and I love Shattered Glass, so who knows.

Maybe a redeco Nemesis Animated Prime, Animated Bugbite, Soundwave redoced Blaster.

I don’t think Animated molds would flow well with an set, it’d be kind of like having the usual set of AEC and classics figures except with an 08 BB repaint thrown in. just wouldn’t seem right.

Kind of like putting water with your cereal, water is good and so is cereal, but they just don’t mix.

I’m hoping that if anything we get more alternant universe figures. I think they have a good story for this years set, but having more characters to expand the universe might be even better.

That is why I mentioned the Universe line the initial post. That line has so many possibilities that have already succeeded with the acceptance of the TF Collecting Community. I would be well supportive of that too

An evil Prowl might be pretty neat, like a cop that fights against good rather than for it.

BotCon 2009 will be Classics 2.0 molds. Bet it.

We'll see Sideswipe released from Sunstreaker's mold, Broadside from A. Tidal Wave, Bluestreak and Smokescreen from Prowl.

There will be a great bitching and rending of sleeves.

Fans will die of starvation, unable to leave their computers their bodies atrophy and wither.

Women leave their men, instead choosing to walk into the sea thereby escaping yet another discussion about Hasblo. Reproduction of human life on Earth ends with a wimper

In the end, only the GeeWuners will still live. Immune to giving a damn about Classics since they bought Classics back in 1980-yesteryear and have no need for them otherwise.

It will be an extinction level event, a final world front, and there is only one year left...

I thought they had already said Sideswipe would be a regular release? Oh well, who cares, cause we all know the magic savior of Transformers Takara Tomy will come down and foil Hasblo’s evil plans!

While you're right that all this is very possible (maybe even very likely),
I hope Hasbro doesn't make the same stupid mistake that they did with the Seekers.
Which ever characters are "leftovers" should NOT be released at a Botcon.
THE Classics Red Alert, Smokescreen, etc. should NEVER be a Botcon exclusive. EVER.
Wait til TF2 has been in theatres; when interest in TF is revved-up again, release a whole 3 more waves worth, and release these "leftovers" then.
That way everyone gets them, and for a waaay better price.
In fact, I don't care if I have to wait a full year from now,
I don't want to see original G1 Character Classic figures released at Botcon.

Well we didn’t get the seekers but we did get Cliffjumper at retail, like they said. I think they’ll release Sideswipe at retail, because he’d probably be the only repaint of that mold we’ll see for universe, maybe Prowl instead.

Hasbro is very likely to put out one repaint and a store exclusive of the same mold. They did with first classics (Skywarp, Ramjet), they could easily put out Sideswipe and maybe Prowl.

I think the biggest reason we didn’t get all of the seekers is because Hasbro knew that no kid would buy the same jet six times.

If anything, we’ll know at Botcon here in a couple days

Nekoman,
I agree with the statement that kids won't buy 6 Seekers... But that's not even a realistic scenario anyway.
Compared to now, there was a limited number of kids buying TF, period. Before the 2007 movie, the average 5-11 yr. old didn't know a thing about Transformers (especially G1 stuff).
Most likely, those kids wouldn't know about G1 even if they have an 18 yr. old brother.
TONS of kids weren't buying TF during the time of Classics.
Tons of these kids still don't have any Classics.
In fact, most of those same kids don't even know that a Universe line with classic characters is coming out in August.
IF those 3 Seekers were dispersed (correctly) in the Universe line,
it would be the first time that tons of kids would see a classic-styled Seeker.
They're way different than the movie voyager jets, and different enough from the movie deluxe jets/planes to where I don't think it would be unrealistic that a kid would buy a Thundercracker and (months later) a Thrust.
It's not that much different than Hasbro expecting a kid to buy a Bumblebee and a Cliffjumper.

The timing of the release of Classics is imo the reason that that whole line didn't sell as well as what it could've/should've.
Of course Hasbro didn't want Classics competing with the Movie line...
But do you realize how much better Classics would've sold if that line would've been released AFTER the movie??
If THIS were the case, and the Universe line was still coming out this August, that's when I think at most Hasbro would release 1 more Seeker, and probably one of the two that are 100% repainted.

I'm really not trying to open up this can again...
I KNOW that the chances of something even close to this happening is about 0.00000032%.
BUT, the possibilities of this being realistic IF the Botcon set never was, are waaaay more tangible than people are willing to admit.

And by the way, Prowl is being released in the Universe line,
which repainted characters did you actually mean to mention?

agreed

I'm more interested in Universe Smokescreen than Prowl, the mere suggestion of Smokescreen as a Botcon exclusive sends shivers down my spine.
