Henkei (Classics) Astrotrain has been released in Japan. TakaraTomy has issued him in his grey and purple color scheme. Chrome grey and purple thrusters are a highlight. Astrotrain comes with manga booklet with a new edition featuring him.

Oh yeah. Can't wait to get this one.

why'd they have to ruin it with that purple chrome

thats the one thing i dont like about henkei is the seemingly senseless use of chrome on some of these guys. just really makesthem seem kinda knock-off-ish IMO

Yea, I'm not a big fan of the unnecessary chrome either, but I still can't wait to get him!!! I ordered him months ago, and just can't wait.

Actually, the chrome is really well done on Astrotrain. Like the other Henkei, the chrome doesn't show well in pictures, especially with cheap digital cameras like mine.

Oooh it's sparkily. I wonder if the shoulder joints are as floppy with this one as the origional Classics version.

I preordered one from BBTS, so I hope this means it ships soon, like this week!!!!

I don't mind the chrome... It'll probably look better in person.

They would have to be if the figure is expected to transform.

Thanks for sharing these pictures with us Stormrider. I can't wait to get this figure in the next couple of weeks. This will finally give me an excuse to bust out my eHobby grey Astrotrain that I bought at last year's BotCon.

Astrotrain is the only figure that I'm missing from the first round of Classics, although I do have a voyager sized knock off of him. I'll be looking to pick this up in the next couple of weeks and probably upgrading my Megatron and Starscream as well.

Screw Classics Astrotrain, this is so much more boss!

Robot mode = total WANT.

Rocket mode = Very nice!

Train mode = wish it wasn't a bullet train, but still looks good.

Overall ugliness. The Hasbro version has better/more realsistic colours. You don't see purple bullet trains or shuttles now, do you?

Hmm... the one time I saw Hasbro Astrotrain in a shop, I passed because the train mode looked too scrawny, but I regretted it.

I'm hoping Forbidden Planet get this one in; it's not listed on the preorder or catalogue pages yet, but they had most of the others last time I was in so I'm hopeful


And on a side note, yay! They have reissue Metroplex up for pre-order... I guess they just really, really want my money

No but I have seen one in the G1 cartoon.

Oh crap,i wasn´t going to get this one because i´m happy enough with the hasbro version,but this darker,more metallic color scheme than shown in previews is appealing. i might get one.
