I've been looking at the pics we have of U-Silverbolt and I've got to say... I think he's going to be disappointing. I mean I love the super G1 throwback in both bot and jet mode, even his gun smells like G1.
But looking at it... it's a brick.
No waist, seems to have very little articulation, and looks to have an even easier transformation then G1 Broadside.
I have a good feeling this figure won't be well received once in the hands of the fans.

I know what you mean. If you look at him, it seems the transformation is little more than tucking his limbs in and unfolding his vehicle nose...
I never got to know the Aerialbots too well so I'm not massively fussed about his appearance but even I'll be disapppointed I think. Time will tell.

He wasn’t impressive, but I’m willing to bet there’s something nice in store for him we don’t know about. Heck, he might even be able to combine, but only time will tell.

I like the accuracy of him but your right that prototype is a brick.
If you look closly at it and Ironhide they don't look as refined as the others. They look like painted resin that was done quick for the show.
That aside however with Silverbolt's design i don't think there is much you can do with the torso anyway. All I hope then is that the legs, arms and head get some good articulation to make up for the brick torso.
He will still make it into my collection.

I used to have G1 Silverbolt when i was younger so i kind of like this one and i really don't think he's going to be a brickformer, none of the bots from the universe/classics are.
and yeah he is show accurate in robot mode... well almost, maybe if the jet nose can fold back so it's not visible from the front side of him.

I totally agree with the paint, it looks very matte and unfinished. Silverbolt more then the rest.
I have a feeling that the wings and nosecone on his back rotate 180 degrees. I mean, it would have to right, it's only like 3 or 4 transformation steps as is.

I dunno... I never had G1 Silverbolt, but from the looks of things both incarnations transform the same way. You just tuck the limbs in underneath the jet and flip the cockpit out. So basically this
is G1 Silverbolt, just bigger and with leg articulation.
Besides, ALL Aerialbots carry their jets on their back. (That's why I think they're the lamest combiner team, since they all transform/look alike.) Bet they sure ring up a huge bill at the Cyber-chiropractors.

I think that - looking at the seibertron gallery pic of the jets underside - it seems the wings & nosecone stay put & his head will go at the rear of the plane.
I agree that while he's a good homage his tranformation is a bit crap.

I hope Hasbro has something special in store for Silverbolt. A simple transformation at an Ultra price just won't cut it these days.

I had ever Aerialbot BUT Sliverbolt when I was a kid so it's a must for me. As far as it being a brickformer, no more so than Jetfire and the Seekers. There's only so many options availible for a bot to still have a stable jet mode. And it's looking vastly superior (no pun intended, well, maybe a little) to the Storm Jet from the Superion Maximus that's currently on my Classics shelf. My problem is going to be having Jetfire, Powerglide, and Silverbolt on the same shelf but no Menasor or Stunticons on the 'cons side. I want balance!
Oh, and to anyone who actually attended Botcon, how comparible are Onslaught and Silverbolt size-wise? Will 'bolt be tiny next to Onslaught?

QFT,It looks really nice and I originaly planned on getting this but the if the transformation is anywhere as simple as Animated Screamer then it'll probably be a pass.

I'm going to wait on him...
Hearing some reviews, etc. will really help me decide.
As many have been pointing out lately, there will be so much stuff we'll all want to buy,
you almost have to be very selective.
Not to mention I'm wanting 2-3 of the Magnus sets.

He looks good enough for me. And a simplistic transformation is not a minus as far as I'm concerned.

When I first saw Silverbolt I was psyched with the homage. But after stuyding him carefully I have to agree with most you - I'm not so thrilled.
He has so much potential especially for a Leader class. It seems like they are trading his articulation and transformation for his electronic gimmicks. I am disappointed.

I personally cannot wait to get him.
A lack of an articulated waist doesn't bother me. I've never seen the need for a tf to do a 180 at the waist.

To answer the unanswered question:

I believe that they will be very close in size, and Silverbolt may actually be a tad taller...after seeing them both in the case (not next to each other btw), Onslaught bulkier, Silverbolt taller, and skinnier.

I hate to heard that. I'll get him anyway, but I could really do without the electronics. Do kids really like these gimmicks that much? When I was a kid I never really cared if a toy had sounds or things that were spring loaded.

Yeah, I had more fun making my own noises and sound effects.
I don't mind things lighting up, but it's not a must by any means.

I think really young kids like the sounds more than older ones, but they are good for bugging pets with.

Is it me, or does Hasbro seem to equate Leader class with light and sound effects? Are there any present leader class figures that don't have electronics?
I'm surprised that the sound and lights take up so much room in the Transformer toys nowadays. They can make sound chips and speakers the size of large coins. It seems a shame to use up the whole fuselage for that kind of treatment.

Wait, Silverbolt is Leader class? I thought he was a Voyager. I'll pass if he's a Leader, I don't need any more $40 figures.
