I was wondering if anyone who went to botcon found out why they changed the name from octane to tankor.

HASBRO no longer has the rights to the name Octane.

And who would want to be reminded of Gas when the prices are so high right now?

Ironically I filled my truck up at 63.9 this morning. Disgruntaled, now former, employee went out with a bang.

But as for Octane as a name. Hasbro couldn't trademark the name Octane because it belongs to a substance or something like that. Or was it that it's a toxic gas?

One of the two.

I can understand that they lost the rights to use "Octane" on it's own as a name, but why didn't they go with their normal trick of sticking the faction in front as his "official" full name, as with Autobot Jazz, Decepticon Brawl, etc? I'd far rather have "Decepticon Octane" than "Tankor." I'm not a GoBot collector, FFS. :P
