It begins - tainting my Transformers collection w/ GoBots

I went a little eBay crazy yesterday and bought the things i was looking for at Botcon that i didn't see.

A beautiful looking G1 Overkill to replace the one that i had as a kid so that I can finally do a gallery of Overkill with Slugfest (who Dave Vandomelen gave to me in perfect condition about 6 or 7 years ago at the Seibertron.com Big Broadcast convention at Washtenaw Community College)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=005

Superlink SD-20 Galvatron General with EMS shipping from Asia so that I can do the Voyager Class Energon Megatron finally and do the comparison pics with BotCon Megatron.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... :IT&ih=009

I finally caved in and bought a MOSC Cy-Kill and MOSC Leader-1 so that I can throw them in as cannon fodder into the Seibertron galleries, much like IDW does with their comics. I decided to buy them both MOSC so that I could avoid the chrome problem with Cy-Kill and the wings problem with Leader-1. I've been thinking about buying these two guys for the past couple of years. At last, they're mine and will one day in the near future grace the Seibertron.com galleries.

Plus since they're starting to use GoBots as inspirations for Transformers (such as Crasher for the upcoming Fracture), I decided that I wanted to do comparison pics for those as well. Plus I have a feeling that if I were to add GoBots as a series on Seibertron that it wouldn't take long to have a comprehensive GoBots database since there's a very finite number of characters and toys.

Good to hear Seibs, I love Mini-cassette galleries. I'm hoping to see ones of the japanese dino-cassettes one day.

Also would you mind posting the right link for the Galvatron Auction? Thanks

Can't wait to see Cy-kill and Leader-1 get their chassis cleaned :)

Er...

When you're done with that Galvatron G...mayhaps we can discuss its future custody and a reasonable price? :?:

After spending a $100 on him yesterday, I'd kind of like to keep him in my collection. The people that I bought him from yesterday, Robot-Kingdom, have more in stock. Hm, just checked ... guess they don't. Maybe you could try contacting them through eBay. I swore it said they had 2 in stock yesterday.

One other seller that I've bought some stuff from has it, but for more.

That's who I bought most of my MISB Masterforce Pretenders from for about $80 a piece.

Ah, I do love me some Go-Bpts. They may not be as neat as Transformers, but they're still pretty, er...neat.

Can't wait for the galleries!

I fixed the link. Here it is again, my friend:

As for the Cassettes ... I'd love to have the dino-cassettes but I just don't want to put that kind of money into the remaining pieces that elude my collection. One day ... maybe for the Seibertron.com 20th anniversary in 2020. ;)

I recently scored a Cy-kill myself, the deluxe size. The box had water damage but essentially the styro protected it. Just the same size as G1 Megatron for him to be at the receiving end..........just like in the DW and IDW comics.

So I just received the regular sized versions of Cy-Kill and Leader-1. While they look "cool" for their size, they basically only outdo the Mini-Bots and the Cassette Transformers. The Mini-Bots just about come up to eye level with Cy-Kill and Leader-1. No wonder why we as kids loved Transformers over GoBots and why as adults many people refer to the GoBots as the poor man's Transformers.

I wouldn't mind seeing Go-bots listed here too. They are one big happy transforming family now anyway, so why not?!?

I always played with them with my TF's as a kid. For a while Ratchet, First Aid, Fixit and "Res-Q" all worked together in my repair bay.

Plus you have to add a picture of go-bot Leader-1 sitting on Armada Megatron like a minicon.

I always shunned the kids who bought me the "red-headed step childs" know as GoBots for me for my birthday as a kid, but maybe I was too harsh. My appologies to all red-heads on the boards.

i hate the Go-Bots..the show that is.

However, Machine Robo: Revenge of Chronos put some of the charcters in a different light.

Cy-Kill, was leader of the good guys in Machine Robo.

Fi-Tor was know as Jet in Machine Robo, and wielded a sword, and also a good guy.

The there was the obscure line of Machine Robo: Battle Hackers.

I saw this anime waaay back in '94,and it pissed me off that they are even harder to find.

Plus Machine Robo had waaaay more toys released than Tonka did for
the Go-Bots line.

Battle Hackers theme opner and toys. Some of these are rarer now than some TF's

I picked up a few Gobots/Machine Robo lately. The combiners mostly, or an example of each kind. I have the Guardian Power Suits, I also have the Car combiner, and I have the Machine Robo Jet combiner set Blizzard exclusive. Besides them I have some random ones like both Crashers, regular Fitor, Ranger, and a couple of the bugs/monsters.

They're fun, and relatively inexpensive.

Heh heh :)

I'm just an awesome brother. I bought my sister, who is in college, that set for her 20th birthday last month. She collects Pokemon stuff. Her roommate is actually into Transformers, but they decorated their room with Pokemon stuff. They've been trying to win a "room decorating" contest. I'm going to see her tomorrow night. I'll see if she can share some pics with us of their room.

Go-Bots overall and as a whole sucked.

But there where some pretty good figures, I have a near complete Gaurdian base, a non working Zod from my very own youth, Scooter, the big Cy-Kill and Leader-1, and a hand full of others that I got in some lot auctions.

I will say, there are more than a few that I do keep my eye out for too!

Spoiler, I'm redoing a shelf in my display room with the command center and some of my niece's old doll house crap to make this now well known cafe

I really didn't like Go-Bots as a kid because the cartoon was lame and the toy figures were small. But I have recently come to respect them. Some of the positives- die-cast, vehicles in the scale with Matchbox, good level of detail and paint.

Quality wise they were at par with TFs. Heck they were built by Bandai, Jetfire's daddy( well Takatoku was blahblahblah ).

Courageous among others were kick @ss sets, but what bothered me were the inclusion of the mini-me versions of several characters which was kind of confusing. In TF you had just one sized Optimus then a bunch of mini-bots. Here not only you have one carded bot(Cy-kill for instance like Seibertron's) and a deluxe version like mine.

Kinda confusing for a kid which stigmatized them into seeing them as a poorman's toy. The japanese version anime Machinerobo was also well done but the cartoon was, well okay though some of the animation designs sucked. Storywise.....preferred TF.

This stuck such that subsequent kids who've turned into writers have turned on the gobots as a whipping cushion (DW and IDW stories are pardon the pun Prime examples)

Tonka back then dropped the ball big TIME.
