I expect alot from the new Armada Hot Shot

When I heard that there was going to be a completely new mold for Armada Hot Shot for the 25th Anniversary selection, I was a little skeptical. One might think that that's completely odd, seeing as I'm an Armada Purist.

No, I wasn't pissed that they picked Hot Shot, one of the few Armada figures i have in my collection. (Okay, I have a big Armada collection, but everyday I bite myself for not completing my collection with a handful of repainted figures ... Thanks BBTS) I was pissed.. cause it's been around 6 years since Hot Shot was made, and how could he be better?

Well.. actually, the original Armada Hot Shot is terrible, almost the worst figure in the line-up if it weren't for his buddy Sideswipe. Armada Hot Shot could be improved, especially with the way TFs have become in the last 6 years. But.. could it be possible for it to loose it's Armada-esque? And what is Armada-esque you ask? Well to me, it's the feel of the figures. No, I don't mean the blocky figures that the line-up was made of, but the way the figures interact with mini-cons, and their cartoony-ish feel. Yes, I'm using alot of made-up words here, but hey, if you have any figure from Armada excluding the BW remolds than y'know what I'm talking about.

I just don't want Armada Hot Shot to loose it's feel.. but I also want it to improve alot. It could use, several things that it lacked in the original mold:

-Moveable Head

Many Armada figures lacked Moveable Heads. Armada Hot Shot needs one

-Moveable Hands & Arms

Ugh.. don't even talk to me.. Armada Hot Shot barely has limb movement

-Better Weapon

For those who are going to get the new Armada Hot Shot and don't have any mini-con weapons, there better be a half-decent gun he can carry.. which shouldn't also be Hot Shot's engine, body armour, or Jolt's machine gun.

Now.. just because Transformers Tech has improved over the last few years, there are things that the new Hot Shot should never loose. These things have made Armada figures the way they are.

-Mini-Con Ports

Slag, if this figure doesn't have at least 4 Mini-con Ports I'm going to be ticked..

-Mini-Con Hands

-For those who don't know, Hot Shot is actually one of the few figures that have the correctly sized hole hands to carry the 3 Mini-con weapons, the Star Saber, Skyboom Shield, and Requiem Blaster. For the love of Primus, Hot Shot's new hands better have holes in them or else his new figure will be pointless.

-Axel Cannon & Jolt Powerlinx.

I wouldn't mind having these things being the same. The mini-con interaction that the original Hot Shot had saved it from being absolute crap.

Honestly I can't wait for a new Armada Figure to add to my collection, but there's alot from me that I expect. Aslong as it incorporates an old Armada feel with a big improvement in figure articulation, i'll be really happy.

Till then...

Not exactly the best rebuttal on a website dedicated to toys and their surrounding fiction, eh?

I feel what Blurrz is saying though. HotShot has a long way to go. Part of Armada's bad wrap is due to HotShot's appearance/articulation.

Just fyi, the bazooka gimmick is gone entirely. Mini-Con ports are present, and articulation is greatly improved. (I'm sure they'll keep the 5mm hand ports too)

Now if only they could keep the light-up hand of the ML version...

I know the rebuttal sucked but damn for $10 your not getting a Picasso. However I was NOT aware that the fighure was total crap. I skipped the Armada lineup myself so I was unaware.

So with that said, if he as "junky" as posted then by all means make him "more better"

Well, the design of the toy looked far superior to the original. I never got it because I looked through the gallery here and just wasn't impressed with the figure at all. But what they showed at Botcon was very impressive. For me, behind Cyclonus in news, I was pleasantly surprised with this. His alt mode looks pretty similar to his original look. We didn't see a color version btw, just the regular grey proto. You can see where Jolt would be connected in alt mode, same place as the original. As for the bot mode, he looks pretty impressive. He has two tonfa style weapons, looks like he can also launch them as missles, but not sure. They looked to be clear like energon weapons, and they weren't grey like the proto. Jolt looked to be improved in detail, but I cant' tell what articulation has been added since he was kinda small and just standing there with a direct profile view. I wish I could have just stared a bit more at him, but the slide show moved on. But his improvement seemed to be in conjuction to the improvements to all the TF's so far in the Universe line. Better bot mode over the original incarnations. I can't wait to see what else Hasbro has in store for us with the 25th anniversary coming up, cause I know what we saw at Botcon won't be everything.

I'm hoping that we get an updated Arm Megatron from this line as well, doesn't need much, but just give me some knees or something for leg movement.

Prototype Armada Hot Shot before Armada:

I would have liked it better, but the arms kept falling off, so he was redesigned.

PLUS:
The Micron Legend versions of Hot Shot, and Hot Shot Super mode have a light up fist so you can illuminate star saber.

I kind of hope, and I didn't see it that it is like a Marvel Legends version of him, compared to the old Toy Biz (or whoever) 'action' figurees.

I am expecting him to be leaner, more articulated, and for Jolt to be better (like Cyclonus' TM). I have a sweet picture in my head, and I hope that's what he ends up like.

Or they could sort of repaint CLASSICS Rodimus into him, and put a remolded head on it. I know, transformation totally different, but that didn't stop them from doing the opposite.

I'll get him and thats without seeing it. I've heard alot of good stuff about the figure, and I'd like to see it soon.

I do have to say though, I don't get my expectations up on hearsay, you always have to leave room for exaduration even from the most reliable scource.

The figure will be what it is, and thats about it till it's unveiled and owned.
