I was looking at my collection of g1 and started to think what toys in g1 had the best articulation. Here's a few that I found had good articulation.
Hungrr
Jetfire
They're the only ones I found who had the most articulation anyone else know of any others?.

Um, Prime anyone?
Optimus, to me, at least, had good articulation. Knees, elbows, some shoulder movement.
Shockwave was pretty good too.
Scattorshot.

Galvatron was suprisingly articulated, considering what the toy looks like. His arms rotate in any direction at the shoulders and bend at the elbow, he rotates 360 at the waist + his legs move forward/back and bend at the knees.

Prime? He had virtually no articulatation!

The legs could move backwards only and the elbows could move side to side and that was it.

Soundwave
Laserbeak/Buzzsaw (for what they are)
Shockwave
Jetfire
Perceptor
Metroplex (for what he is)
Hun-Grrr
and not mentioned earlier ... Squeezeplay. That figure has awesome articulation for a G1 toy.
One may notice that most of the above actually had knees.

Yeah, those knees and elbows certainly couldn't bend.

Have you ever seen a G1 Prime?

What are you talking about? His arms are quite good - rotating and bending elbows, rotating shoulders, wingspan, rotating wrists. Sure you can bend his kness but then he won't stand - same with any G1, including Sludge. Soundwave is probably better as he has a turning head but Galvatron's arms are the best.
My opinion is that G1 Ravage is the best articulated of all G1 - FOURTEEN points of articulation! You can make him look like he's tracking a scent, sitting, crouching, about to pounce, even hang him of someone's arm like he's jumped on them! He's so good he lives amongst my classics (almost the right scale, too), seems purrfectly at home and joins in their battles.

Other than the sad fact that he has his cassette markings on the other side.

Out of the G1's I had as a kid, Prime was the most articulate. He could even move one leg separate from the other! Wow!
You can't really pose him, but he can make pointing gestures with his gun hand.

Ravage has a pretty good range of articulation, for the type of beast he is.

...

I'm sorry, but Prime had WAY more articulation than that.

It's not too bad to have the cassette markings. I always like to see some parts of the alt mode on the body of the robot mode. Makes it look more like a Transformer.

Good leg articulation. If their elbows had been functional, they woulda been great.
ActionMasters... the 1980s prelude to Revoltech?

I never had G1 Jetfire. But i have the Macross Valkerie 1:55. Which is exactly the same toy. He's got pretty good articulation. Plus some nice features in jet mode. Such as retractable landing gears, movable wings, movable turrets.

People don't want to really admit this in the wake of over articulate movie toys, but a large number of G1s had very good articulation. Sure, the Seekers and Megatron and Ratchet and Ironhide were negatively articulate, but the Autobot cars like Prowl and some of the rest were very well done. To say G1 Prime had no articulation bespeaks a total unfamiliarity with the G1 Prime figure, and sure so many of the later series G1s were bricks and a half like the Headmasters and such, but the early days of the series gave us Soundwave and Prime and the Datsuns and Perceptor and Jetfire and Inferno and a buncha' others. To say the minibots and micromasters were terribly inarticulate....have you ever seen the current Legends figures? Gestalts, sure they suck at posing, but they were sort of purpose built to be what they are. How articulate should Omega Supreme be, really? He's a friggin battle station. And he walks. What more do you want? Movie Prime may be more articulate, but can he walk slowly around and piss off that cat you hate? No.
