Question about Armada Optimus Prime and power linx

I have to start off and say that I never got into buying the Armada toys. They didn't greatly appeal to me. I did come across a few energon toys on clearance from time to time and picked them up at bargain prices.

Anyway, my girlfriend found a couple transformers at a flee maket that were used and played with and were cheap. She picked up a couple for our son. One of them is a jet that is grey and orange with some blue. One of his arms at a realy long part of the back of the jet. Horrible looking figure in my opinion but it's for my young son to play with so............

Anyway, the other is Optimus. He is missing all his accessories and his trailor. I think he is a horrible robot mode but the vehicle mode is decent. Anyway, I remembered that I have a couple Energon Jet Fires still sealed and if Jet Fire would power link with Prime, maybe i could make a cool robot out of it after all. But will it work without Optimus' trailor? Will Jet Fire even be compatible with prime for power link? Thanks for any advice.

All you need is the Prime body to combine with Jetfire, the trailer isn't part of the conversion.

I will say the combination looks alright, but basicly, it's a brick, or jetpants if you will.

And yeah, Armada had some cool figures, but alot more that just sucked.

OK, Thanks. So it wouldn't be worth it to open a Jetfire for this purpose then, huh?

I'm sure there were some cool toys in the line. But I have to admit, I'm not a fan of these two. At least in robot mode that is.

If you have him sealed, I'd keep him that way. The resell value of the figure is worth it.

If you have one loose, then yeah, "JetPants Go!"

Or just pick up a cheap loosy in the auctions.

I wouldn't tarnish the resell value though to make this combination, sorry, but I thought you had him open already.

If it's Energon Jetfire that you have then it won't combine with Armada Prime. The Armada version of Jetfire has the same connectors as A Primes trailer allowing him to form the legs of A Prime's flight mode, the connectors on E Jetfire are the universal Powerlinx type that allow him to form either a shirt (torso/arms/head) or pants (waist/legs) mode with the other Energon voyagers or deluxes (although combinations with the deluxes tend to look a bit odd).

You seem to be quite confused about different lines and gimmikcs:

First

One of them is a jet that is grey and orange with some blue. One of his arms at a realy long part of the back of the jet. Horrible looking figure in my opinion but it's for my young son to play with so......

This sounds like Cybertron Thundercracker. nothing to to do with Armada or Energon.

Then there are 2 versions of Armada Prime: This guy which is the Deluxe Version and combines with nobody,

And this one which is the Larger one that can combine with his trailer or with Armada Jetfire, not to be confused with energon Jetfire.

He can combine with either of these:

2.

but cannot combine with Energon Jetfire, this guy:
