Help With I.D. Please

I was round a friend's who has kids. They bought this from a charity shop. It's really stupid looking but I want to know what it is. It has an autobot insignia on the chest but no date anywhere.

Thanks guys! It really bugged me that I had no idea. He's utterly hideous - only a kid could love it surely. I notice from the link that he can combine with others to form... er... some sort of standy-on-shoudlers thing. Great.
