TF Movie Stockade Recalled?

Hey all, long time lurker first time poster (oooh... an LTLFTP!) but I came across something interesting today at my local Target, apparently there was a merchant return on ONLY the TF Movie Stockade is being returned to the supplier. So I dunno why only that particular one is being returned, has anyone noticed any defects with it? Or somethin' dirty inprinted on it? LOL But I did find that odd, considering they had most of the newer Deluxes save for Cliffjumper and Stockade on the pegs. And I remember seeing him only once or twice before.

Even when I talked to the Target team member who was looking through the pegs (he asked me since I'm kind of known as the resident toy guy in my store) if any of the ones out was the one he was looking for.

Just an oddity that I thought I'd share with the rest of the Seibertron community. Could be a new possible super rare figure, if Hasbro is taking it off the shelves for some odd reason. Unless its missing some kinda sticker or warning label - which would possibly make any earlier ones more 'rare'.

Now don't ya'll go sellin' them cheap on ebay now!

Intresting, and hey Welcome, new guy buys the beer.

I have to ask if you(or anyone) has a pick or link concerning this?

I have the figure, outside of the poor balanced feet(which is minor, compaired to other figures), I can't see anything wrong with the little lug!?!

I, too, would like to know what's wrong with Stockade. I bought him a loooooong time ago, and it would suck to find out that he's been slowly emitting carbon monoxide or something.

I'm not sure what the reason for the return was, other than seeing an MIR (Merchant initiated return) form in the toy team lead's cart as he was looking through the pegs to pull it, if there were any there. It wasn't 'hardlocked' considering it did say not to pull the whole stock with that DPCI just that one particular one. And that a Hasbro rep would be in to check it or something. And if it was a lead paint worry, then they would have had a recall thing posted or there would have been some thing. Anyone still have the packaging? Maybe its missing a safety warning or something?

But it is rather odd.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Finally got my browser to let me register LOL

Two days ago I was at a local Walmart and saw an associate removing all deluxe Payloads from the shelves and put them into a shopping cart (a full cart of it) to be wheeled back into stockroom. I tried to ask her where are they being taken to, she said she didn't know why but they are going back to the manufacturer, she was just following a work order. *shrug* :-?

*BA DUM CHA!*

And you're not posting it right. You have to do it with the same inflection that Wreck-Gar would...

GARBAGE!!!!!

All joking aside, yeah, the Allspark Power figures are really lackluster. (The original molds I mean, the repaints aren't bad at the mold level, because they come from toys made of win and awesome)

- Stockade bores me with his abundance of unpainted details (which could've help sell him, in my book),

- Landmine is just frustratingly easy (except the arms. Those just make me want to punch a wall.) and also boring, but has a bit more on the ball than Stockade in the looks/detail department.

The clear winner of the original ASP molds is...

- Incinerator. I originally gave him low marks for his ridiculous prop hands of doom, and his flimsy legs...but once I made him some hands and posed him just right...he is made of win and saved the ASP figures from being completely bankrupt in the cool department.

Still...one out of three ain't good...

EDIT: This... "recall" might not be a bad thing like everyone thinks.

Follow me for a sec here...

It's clear that they're not selling these figures. I know of 3-4 Wal-Marts (and one K-Mart) that has an abundance of:

Landmine
Payload
Salvage (which sold out, thanks to those of you who bought 'em.)
Stockade
Etc.

That's not even counting the older figures from earlier in the line that aren't moving either.

That's a lot of stuff to just..."sit there".

Animated's date has been moved from June 22nd to May 26th, back to June 22nd, and now it's back to May 26th on HTS.com.

My guess is that Animated will be pushed up, and since there's no room for the figures with all of the current product, the retailers are returning them to Hasbro for credit. Oh they'll leave the Premiums on the shelves, because they're the main stars of the movie, but the rest are just pure, instant shelfwarm.

Might as well earn back some of their investment, make room for new product, and everyone's happy all around. That's just a guess, but it's a reasonable one.

Oh and one more thing, I had mentioned in another thread that a woman at my Wal-Mart had confirmed the street date in the computer...that mandate can be lifted in mere minutes once Hasbro sends out the release info. In fact, when the second (or third?) trailer for the Movie came out, they released the wave 1 Deluxes to help publicize it. (I.E. cash in early.)

I think it's a sign that Animated is coming sooner than we think.

At least I hope...because the ASP figures are weighing down the pegs...bad.

Could it be excessive amount of lead in the paint appz???....Can't think of anything else.

Neither.

A recall notice would have been posted if that was the case. More than likely this "lurk" question has to do with value.

I have worked for Target, and currently work for Walmart. Sometimes when items don't sell, they don't always go on clearance. Since a brand new toy line is about to flood stores, trying to reduce the price on the item, especially if it is not selling has to do with profit.

Basically for the Hasbro, it's cheaper for them if they can buy back all those crappy all-spark repaints, becasue it makes the toy section have room for all the new Animated toys. Hasbro has made a significant amount of money from the TF movie line, so no need to let those things hang.

If you didn't want them when they were on the pegs, then why bother when they are being returned to Hasbro. In this case it's a win win for Hasbro and the retailer.

I checked over on the CPSC's website (cpsc.gov - lists all US recalls) and there's nothing about TFs at the moment, so it's not a problematic (safetly-related) quality concern.

Other than that... *shrug*

I bought my Stockade about two months ago and I've had no issues with it. I saw two on a shelf at a Target yesterday.

Now I wonder if they did that recall on Premium Bumblebee, I still can't find him (although E-Bay sellers apparently have no issues finding him :-? )

I still saw a couple stockades at my target. Can't really believe the crap issue as there are still TONS of payloads at all my targets. I like stockade, I transform one of his arms into a makeshift shield.

Something about getting ready for animated stuff so there repackaging certain movie deluxe figures as two packs. So there ask them to be send back any single pack figures for repackaging into the two pack packaging.

You know what, I might know why. Possible Choking Hazard.

I have no inside information - only an educated guess. I love TF movie Stockade, but the windows attached to his wrists in robot mode that become his windshields in vehicle mode have the nasty habit of popping off their hinges. They can be reapplied, but the window piece is just flat enough and small enough to fit into a kids mouth, but pointy and large enough to choke said child. If Stockade is being recalled by the store, and the recall is a safety concern (which is just a possible theory), then the windows might be why.

Unlikely, or we would have heard about this, but you never know. The merchant might be issuing the recall based on safety complaints, but Hasbro may know nothing of it.

Again, this is just conjecture.

it is because they are shelfwarmers.yesterday i saw an entire isle of stockade toys, this morning they were all bieng taken by employees to ship back to hasbro. i asked why and one of them said it was because they are soon going to be taking all of them except the exclusives and premiums, and replacing them with animated and classics2/universe toys.

This is probably the most logical reason.

Anyone want to guess what next year's Botcon exclusive will be? Maybe a repainted Stockade figure. ;)

That two pack theory does seem the most plausible, maybe they figure instead of firing up the molds again for a newer figure, they'd just ask for some of them back so they can repackage them.

Wonder if a TF Movie 2 pack "Special Purchase" endcap at Target is in the future... maybe around fall or before Christmas. Like a $19.99 thing. Sorta like they had those Cybertron 2 packs a few years back... that never moved. That I got for like $3.94...

I just got back from Wal-Mart and they had about 2 or 3 Stockades on the pegs. There is no recall near me.
