The lost Molds

OK I was wondering, which Tf molds will never see release again due to it's mold being ether:
"lost"
"broken"
"worn out"

I know of g1 Wheeljack's mold being broken
g1 Mirgage's mold, G1 Dinobots being lost and G1 Soundwave being broken.

Also I hered that a few Minicons are wornout, which ones?

Are there any more I ether forgot or don't know about?

Thanks for your help.

I dont know nay besides the ones you malready mentioned. But although I grew up watching the G1 episodes I grew was born around the time G2 was around. But maybe if you ask a big hardcore G1 fan, they might know.

broken as in, well broken, in pices destroyed...

worn out as in used to often that the mold pieces kinda disintegrated making it impossible to make a quality toy out of it.

Molds have a finite life. They only last through so many re-uses before they become unable to be used to make another correct model. The quality gets lower, the pieces don't fit as they should, etc., etc. Thus, they can no longer use them because they would create a quite inferior product.

The 'Car Robots/RID' brothers come to mind here. I believe they have been spent...

The 'lost' molds refer to those that were somehow lost when the company moved its facility to a new one way back when. In the move molds somehow ended up missing, and some were damaged and thus, unuseable.

Good question, but I don't think that we have been given a list of them.

By all accounts, the BT/Alt Subaru mold is on it's way out.

Although honestly I think there have to be ways of making new molds that would look as close to original as possible. Look at how many times they've given us G1 Prime - so unless they made a few copies of the mold or they re-created it more recently - I doubt they're using the original original 84 era mold. Plus look at all the KO companies making G1 stuff. I mean really the only way to get a G1 Mirage is to go the knock off route.

But if there was enough interest on Has/Tak's end they'd find a way to make new molds or put something out.

The G1 Encore mold is the same as the 2000 molds. And yes, they aren't using the 1984-1991 molds anymore. (How do I know? compare Re-issue Ultra Magnus's back(mini me Prime mode and you'll see.....same with all the takara Convoy's ever re-issued))

That one has been rather over used!

There was a thread like this back when I furst joined and someone said it didn't matter if molds were lost or damaged, it was quite easy to remake a mold from the toy. Surely, if they made the mold once they can make it again...

Has/Tak wants to keep the Fanboys in the dark, that's why.

And yes, the Technology exists to make new molds for old toys, if we can put alittle car on Mars and drive it around I'm sure we can make a decent Wheeljack mold.

God, I'm so gay for Wheeljack

I heard that the BW Rattrap (Original) mold was lost or stolen is this true. Because that would explain his not being present in the Anniversery reissue lineup.

At Botcons the powers that be state it is too cost prohibitive and you get a low/different quality product when you do this reverse engineer thing.

Any Mini-Con that was released in a Cybertron 2-pack is supposedly retired at this point.

Since we haven't seen any of them since, I'd say that's a pretty good sign.

Oh no, no more Combaticons? Guess we'll have to make do with the ten thousand Combaticon repaints already in existance.
