Looks like Starscream has his original colours and Soundwave is a single-tape version. Interesting.

Is this the new japanese reissue line we had seen listings for previously.


If so im sutibly unimpressed by the step backwards in the starscream design - much preffered the anime accurate design on the last takara resissue series

Actually, looking at it, these look like Takara's original stock photographs from the Eighties. If they are, the pictures may not be anything to go by. They may use the TFC version yet.

Good to see Takara is officially picking up the G1 re-issues again. Now bring on the other two coneheads, Trailbraker, Dinobots, Headmasters and whatnot!

that soundwave kicks ass....i'd love the single chest instead of the soundblaster soundwave

They always were in the old photographs. Every catalogue I've got seems to have Seekers with their weapons pointing in opposite directions.

I would totally be in support of replacing my original Soundwave, who's seen better days. Poor guy's head won't even stay up anymore unless he's looking 90 degrees to the left or right...

Yeah, they seem like old stock photos. It would be awesome if they re-issued characters not re-issued yet. Between Takara's box re-issues and Hasbro's I have all the re-issues.

Does anyone know if the Encore series will be the "Box" style w/the Dreamwave artwork or like eHobby's w/cardstock boxes?

Who knows? I would hope they'd stop using the Dreamwave stuff as it really is a mixed bag, but that only leaves the original box art which isn't brilliant. Maybe they could have new artwork?

I'm really looking forward to the Soundwave reissue but after seeing the prices the entire set of four is going at on BBTS, I may by a couple of sets. The only thing that I'm not looking forward to is yet another capped Megatron issue.

Man, I hope that they release the same color design as the TFC reissues. I missed out on that anime accurate Starscream and he's what I'm really looking for.

Great news for those that missed it. I've been watching ebay prices go crazy for the ToysRUS reissues of Optimus shoot to $100 and Megatron's recent reissue of $85 was just too high for my tastes. Finally.. a more reasonable price of around $55 from most online sellers from the list of 5000 yen about $43.

Seems this soundwave is listed for $5 more than the Hasbro re-issue soundwave on BBTS. Hopefully more info will surface before Revoltech megatron arrives so I can cancel my order of the Hasbro one if the Takara one has the single tape chest.
