Should there be a new search funtion in toy galleries?

I think it would be nice if the Toy galleries could be searched based on altmode. It might be a pain to assign them but I'm sure if the option to assign altmodes was left to the fans it wouldn't take long at all. The assignments could be the same as those for HMW altmodes or something even more detailed. What's the consensus on this? Would other fans appreciate this?

It would be useful.
Depends how the databes is set up, but it mightn't be that difficult to set up. However even if it is relativly easy, it'll take a LOT of time to go through all the galleries lableing their alt mode class.

I posted this same topic when I first registered here. I'd love to be able to look up characters by alt mode because I offten find myself wanting lists of characters with a spicific alt mode and then having to make a topic to get help with my list. If there was an easy way I could just type in something like "Truck" and be able to get every Truck from G1 Huffer to Cybertron Ironhide that'd be great.

Something similar to TFU.info, you mean? Not a bad idea.
What if there's disagreement about certain alt.modes, though? And how precise would the alt.mode descriptions be?
Take, for example, G1 Doubledealer. What would his alt.mode be labelled as?
Or Autobot cars; are they just listed as "Cars" or as separate categories within, such as "Sports Cars", "Racing Cars", etc?

Leonardo,
I think it could work more like a querie*probably misspelled*. Fans enter an altmode and it goes in the querie. There would have to be some grounds for approval. Either admin or by consensus, but multiple search options could render the same bot. The example you gave of Doubledealer. One fan might enter 'Missile tank', another just 'tank', 'missile truck' and so forth. Those would have to be approved. Lets say some smartalek entered 'fluffy bunny' that would not be approved. Stampy from BWNeo however would be eligable for 'bunny', 'rabbit', 'hare' or the like. Though now i'm just over complicating something I wanted to be simple. It'd probably bog down admins or the like to approve everything. I still think fan consenus for possible listings of altmode is the way to go.

It could work with a series of pull-down menus.

Like Leonardo said, tfu.info already has something similar where you can look at altmodes of a particular type and colour.
If there was to be an altmode categorisation for the Galleries here perhaps it could work in a tiered manner, so you have a few basic categories such as land vehicle, air vehicle, sea vehicle, animal and from there there are sub categories so that land vehicle has within it car, truck, tank and so on.
The process of assigning the categories could follow those tiers too, so first all the toys get a simple first-tier category and then after that we can work on applying the more detailed sub-categories.
