these crossed my mind...
Scorponok
Classics Meg
Menasor...
Tidal Wave
Cybertron Demolisher (ez to get right now)

Tidal Wave or either version of Scorponok would be the best selections, although I'd go with Scorponok as Tidal Wave is a bit too large to face off with Vector Prime.
If you wanted to stay with Cybertron tv characters, Id go with Dark Crumplezone or Mudflap, both are excellent figures.

How about menacor-his hand weapons would be assume for vector to deflect with his sword!
Got any spare cons with swords?

Classics Megatron is Mini-Con compatible? I'll have to go look at him now................but I like Scorponok. He's a lot of fun IMO...............

yeah, Menasor's drills vs VP's sword sounds killer.
And Menasor does also look like some strange knight as
well...
yes I do have one of the star sabers.
I can attach mini-con Terra-dive in claw form onto
Menasor!

I would say Dark Skorpanok, or as was mentioned but not on your original list, Dark Crumplezone.

OR if the sword is really something you'd want to showcase, how 'bout Energon Megatron or (preferably) Galvatron, with the sword tank deal? They both have like 8 minicon ports too. They're bigger than Vector Prime though.....

I hope I never get into toys that much.'
Edit: Alright it wasn't as bad as the first impression and was pretty informative.

my Armada Meg will be occupied with other missions
& will not be facing VP directly

thanx everyone, seems like Scorponok is THE choice
according to many of you, esp. DARK version.
not suprisingly he's harder to find/more expensive!

Tell me about it. He was everywhere at the end of last year / beginning of this year but I kept putting off buying him because there were others I wanted and Ebay and Carbombya stole my attentions.
Now? Now I can't find him anywhere. Sadness takes hold. Tear ducts flood. Let the Heavens pour.

the key is to know which TF you will feel this way for
before they become sold out. Easier said than done.
I almost missed Vector Prime, puttin him off over & over!

I'm just gonna try to target a very small set
each time, hopefully if I do make an error,
that way I can at least say, well I at least
I got this set!
