Movie Deep Desert Brawl or Animated Ultra Magnus?

I have a hard time choosing which one to buy. Since I can only afford one for now.

I just bought Animated Megatron and like it a lot and saw that Ultra Magnus look as good as him.

I have the normal Movie Brawl and I like the mold a lot and from the pictures, like the Desert's paint better.

The problem is Brawl still cost 59,99$ in Toy 'R' Us while every Animated Leaders cost 49,99$ now. I never seen Desert Brawl any where else except TRU and they only have two left. Animated Ultra Magnus is not released in Canada yet.

And few questions about Magnus, does moving his arms in Robot mode always do a electronic sound? I saw video where the guy push the button to make him talk but his mouth doesn't move at all like Bulkhead and Megatron, is that normal? Is it possible to make him hold his hammer on the bottom of the hammer's handle?

Should I buy Desert Brawl now or wait for Animated Ultra Magnus?

Preferably, I'd go with Magnus. You already have a Movie Brawl, and Ani Magnus is avery impressive figure.

Ultra Magnus

I think all the animated leaders are worth getting. If you can only get one get him. Though Brawl should be going down in price again soon.

Without a doubt, Magnus.

DDB, for some reason, reminds me of blueberry cobbler.

Even if you are getting the City Commander set, I'd still get Ultra Magnus.

Along with Swoop, Swindle, and MAYBE Blitzwing, he's the only Animated fig. I'm getting for sure at this point.

Welcome to my world. I had to cut back a lot on figures this year. Just way too much product to keep up with, especially with a small wallet. lol

Magnus is definitely a better figure than Megatron. That's impressive considering Megatron is a great figure.

Could always sell off the original to help fund the repaint. (I'm sure someone would be interested in buying it. He's impossible to find now, and he most certainly is better than the Deluxe mold.)

Don't feel bad. I don't think Magnus has been released to retail anywhere, yet. (which is odd. You'd think we'd see at least one solid sighting...) I'd say it's worth the wait for Magnus, really. I know it's hard, but it's worth it.

Not always will his arms trigger the noises, but it is true that moving them *can* trigger the sounds when you least expect it. It's the way they tab into place. (The design is flawed.)

The chest button on mine works the best of all of the Leader Class figures I have. Bulkhead's the worst in terms of this gimmick, Megatron's is just over the line of functional, Magnus...works perfectly, right off the bat.

He can hold the hammer lower on the handle, but it's not the tightest fit, so the hammer will spin freely in his hand. There's a tab that plugs into the palm of his hand, you could always snap off the tab and glue it on further down the handle. But, even without the stability of the tab, his hands are tight enough to hold the hammer at the bottom.

Having both figures, I can honestly say that Magnus is the one worth waiting for. Considering you have Brawl already, it's better to have one of both awesome figures, than to have two of the same one. You're only getting half the awesome.

Believe me, you need all of the awesome. Oh and the sound effects problems, even though they can be a nuisance, are not enough to fail the figure, not even close.

Buy Brawl. He won't be available for much longer. Magnus will.

Is Ultra Magnus' arms do the sounds often like that or the guy was unlucky?

its start at 6:30.

And is his shoulders fragile? I don't know know why but looking at video reviews always make me think his big block white shoulders will come off.

And my Brawl has a problem. For some reason, pushing his main turret, no longer make sound. I just transformed him like 3 times before this happened. But when I activate the auto-morph lever for his head, its activate all sound effects including the one from pushing the turret.

You mean the G1 transforming sound? His arms trigger that sound, it's part of his feature set.

No, his shoulders aren't fragile. In fact, they're a tad too tight. (I might have to see about sanding down some of the friction points, because it can be a pain to push around.)

You might've hacked a wire during transformation, accidentally. I'm not sure what else would cause it, I'm just guessing here.

I'd get UM.

In my area DDB is still pretty available, and I'd expect him to be on sale soon enough.

Ultra Magnus. I never thought Brawl deserved a Leader class figure at all (he should have been a Voyager), and the Deep Desert version is ugly compared to the original.
