Many of us are getting excited about the new Transformers Movie toys, which will be released this summer. We know that Hasbro and Takara are both releasing the movie toys; but did you know that there are some differences in the toys?

Recently we reported here on a few articles from Japan's June edition of Dengeki Hobby , which contained information about the up coming Transformers Movie toys. Dengeki Hobby has indicated in the article that the Takara version of Optimus Prime (Leader class) will contain die-cast.

Eager fans may have a new decision to make when it comes to purchasing the movie version of Optimus Prime (Leader class)- Hasbro? or Takara?

Sheesh. I don't think I'll be picking up the Leader Class version at all, but if I was going to, the die-cast would make me lean heavily towards buying the Takara version.

PS- That's a kind of craptacular Photoshop job on the top image ;) Oh well.

You could bitch about anything, couldn't you Ed? Good God. Just because it's related to the movie doesn't mean you *have* to find fault with it. We won't worry you've gone soft if you let one through, honest.

I only wonder what *part* of the figure is die cast. I would assume either part of the torso or the lower legs for balance.

Why do people "drool" over diecast?

And you push on primes crotch to make his head drop down?

:/ nice gimmick.

BTW a very merry un-birthday to everyone!

I like it. I have accepted the movie toys and story as just another alternate TF universe. I'll probably get the Takara version of Prime, not just for the die-cast (nice touch) but for the paint apps. I'll wait to see the final cost first.

The way Transformer fans act sometimes you'd think they were rewriting Dostoevsky or Hemingway, or changing the statue of David for a more modern look.

When it comes to the Movie line "it is what it is".

As for this guy...die cast makes me happy. :D Hopefully this figure doesn't get overpriced stateside.

If it's all metal, then I will buy it from Japan, I just hope it isn't expensive ><

If it is just some parts, then I'll be happy with the Hasbro Version and besides, American Toys from Movies that are MIB always sell better than another country...I think...

Most of the time, you'll find better quality and paint appz in Takara version than in Hasblo....hhhemm...I meant Hasbro. The downside is more money but worthy. Now there is die cast , I'm all over Takara.

I'm just gonna get the voyager version. Die Cast or not, this version still looks like Fatimus Prime's slightly less fat cousin.

Have all the gray plastic parts replaced with metal casts and rubber wheels, add realistic interior and a trailer, name it: "Optimus Prime Movie Masterpiece", and i'll spend up to 300 bucks to get it.

Of course it's got to have the lit-up matrix too.

Gobot, I think you've got it wrong, look at the arrows on the head gimmick, it clearly show that you press down on locking switch and then the head pops up.

Oh yeah, I forgot, right to left in japan...dumb=me

Still, could they have put the "switch" in a different place?

The more I see of this Prime, the more I want him. Diecast would be cool but I'm thinking I could barely scrap together enough to get the Hasbro version.

The more I want him, the more I want him to be someone else. He looks like a Prime look-a-like. A bad one IMO. lol.

After studying the two photos carefully, it appears that Prime's chest has a different shine than the other parts. I wonder if that is the die-cast portion.
(I'm referring to the panes that go around the front windows on his chest).

I was intending to pass on this toy, but I am changing my mind now with the Takara version.

either way its all the same to me
diecast is more for as a collectible
plastic is more for being affordable but
also as a collectible
