Why are there two very different-looking toys both called Demolishor in the Energon line?
For reference:

Well, it's because one is a KB Toys exclusive.
If you remember back when Energon/Superlink started, it has quite a few Armada Characters still around, only they were different colors. This applies to:
Demolishor
Cyclonus
Tidalwave
All 3 of them get destroyed/rebuilt into:
Demolishor (Dump Truck)
Snowcat
Mirage
So basically, the reason we have 2 Demolishor's is because they just didn't give him a new name when he got upgraded.

Ah, I see. Looks like he got downgraded to me! Anyway, I may try to pick him up.

Hell no! Although Energon Demolisher might not really look all that special, it is a fun toy. Not a downgrading, not really an upgrade, but still a cool figure.
Sorry, I just had about 7 poptarts so I'm a little jumpy.

Energon Demolisher is both very cool and kind of crappy all at the same time. He has a wonky transformation that is based off one long ratcheting plank that runs through his body. His proportions are all kinds of weird, long legs, short arms, look slike an inverse muscle builder.
Still, his gimmick is very cool and his uniqueness is something interesting. At this point too, he's one of a kind, no remolds/repaints of him yet.
In short, get one, but don't over pay at all.

What exactly is his gimmick? Is it this joyous floodlight mode I can see in Ryan's gallery?

It is actually. But I agree, don't overpay for one. He's a $10 figure, plain and simple, and as much as I like him, $11 or more would be highway robbery.

Noted and heeded, my friend.

Hell yeah it is. How many other Transformers do you know that can fire 4 missiles at once (without rigging something up)?

I've never had either, but still, that's only 3, not counting the Magnus repaint.

I have both Demolishers from Engergon.
If you were to get only one, I'd say go for the armada repaint.
For a start it's the only time that mold (which IMO is a very fun one) has had a decent colour scheme.
And as I said, the toy is just a lot of fun. Not many tfs boast a minicon driven walker mode.

I do need to shoot some load, but Red makes an interesting point about the Armada repaint...

Oh, I love the Armada mold too (I've got all 4 releases of him), but I feel that Hasbro didn't go the full mile. What I'm referring to is that they only bothered to make missile launchers in 1 of his shoulders fire-able, while the other is suppose to be "storage".
If they had given him actual firing mechanisms in his other shoulder, he'd get a 10 out of 10 from me.

Ah. That's a bit disappointing. He looks interesting, though, and I do need more Decepticons. Finding him might be a pain, though. I can only see one on Ebay and postage is £7.99. What for?
