Torn between Classics and Encore

For years I've really been wanting better versions of the G1 Ironhide and Ratchet figures. Obviously now there are multiple options there, Botcon 05 (very expensive), Encore (with the head sets) and Classics.

I'm a 31 year old who grew up watching Transformers with the first miniseries, which do you guys think is the best for me?

Note that I have been buyin g more classics than G1 recently just because they are easier to find mint.

Universe Ironhide looks awesome. I can't wait to get him and Henkei is also releasing Rachet. I think Hasbro might also release him, but there's been no word yet.

Delicon go for the Universe versions, That's what I'm gonna do.

The G1 guys won't really fit in well with the rest of the classics that you have been buying.

And the Botcon versions will set you back a few hundred dollars more than what the Universe or Henkei releases of Ratchet and Ironhide would cost you.

Botcon Ratchet ($450)

Botcon Ironhide ($160)

vs.

$20 to $50 at BBTS or Hasbro Toy Shop

One reason why I haven't just gone with the Universe/Classics on these is the head issues.

You know, after nearly 25 years, you would think they'd know how to do a proper Ironhide/Ratchet head!

Universe Ironhide is awesome.

It's what G1 Ironhide(and eventually Ratchet) should have been.

Couldn't have said it better. Just bought 2 classics Ironhides today. I will be getting the Henkei version of this and Ratchet.

I'd have to say Encore. They just sees so much nicer due to the authenticity of being originals.

Minus shoulder hips they do look great, especially with the new heads...

I say if you can only have 1, get the Universe. With the Botcons by his side, the Universe is far superior to either other mold.

Well, that battle lasted like a day. I picked up Universe Ironhide tonight (can't beat $7.77 at Wal-Mart plus my wife's employee discount)

The figure is nice, with really only 2 problems. I'm not a real big fan of how he stands in robot mode (looks slightly awkward to me) That's liveable though.

The second is the blue...some of the other Universe just have amazing paint decos, this one just falls a little short, espeially with certain windows clear and certain ones blue.

Overall though a very nice figure. Pick him up if you can (may still get the Encore later as well)

I say get both Classics & Encore. You can get your childhood toys minty fresh with the Encore line. Then you can get affordable very cool updates to your childhood toys with the Classics line. It's a win win situation!

Agreed. Classics Ironhide don't exactly fit in with G1. Too futuristic. The new heads on the Encore are a big improvement.
