I'm torn- I want his really bad, and I might be able to weasel my way into one for Christams. $70 is a little steep, tho, and part of me wants to watch how it sells, maybe wait for it to go on clearance if it ends up warming shelves.
I have my orginal G1 Prime, which is almost complete if a little rough, and a new re-issue Pepsi Prime I got a few months back, so I'd love a new-new Prime to go w/ them. I'l very likely pick this guy up, sooner or later.

Eeek...my wallet is still recovering from the last wave of figs...need a transplant to survive...
70 bucks? Geez...I don't think he was that much when TRU did the reissue series a couple years back...

I could have sworn it was supposed to retail for 50 dollars...
Either way, I'd love to have this guy...but I can't justify myself paying 70 dollars for it (even though you get a boatload of extras). I wish there was an option to get JUST the figure for a lower price without all that extra crap.

As much as I want a new prime, I just can't stand those sawed-off stacks. I realize it's supposed to be a safety thing, but come on, there are other molds out right now with much more dangerous parts than rounded-tip smokestacks.

Hasbro said that they would be using several other G1 molds for the 25th line. I wonder which ones they'll be. I would like to have another Ultra Magnus. It would be awesome if they gave us something that wasn't reissued in the Commemerative line a few years ago.

Found it at my local WalMart on my home to Lake Elsinore, California. They had around 6. The packaging is quite nice, and I like how it's all presented with lift up tabs of the comic. The downside is that the smoke stacks are puny and the paint looks faded it's not like the other encore and re realses. It looks very much like the classics Ironhide red.

PASS.I have the original G1 prime complete, the TRU re-issue prime and the encore prime.I don't need another short stacked prime in my collection esp at that price. The fact that it is the 25th edition prime with the 25th logo on the box is the only thing appealing about this figure to me.I have the entire G1 DVD box set so I don't need the video, the voice box and the comic meh.For $70.00 I can buy alot more needed figs for my collection. If this figure ever see's clearance prices I may pick it up.

Hasbro hopes people will actually pay that much?
I think $70 for the thing is way too much, myself, given it's an old 1980s simple design that doesn't warrant the cost of a masterpiece toy. This is the same reason I spent about $100 on Classics Ultra Magnus + City commander, as it's pointless to spend the same on a vintage Ultra Magnus.

I'm glad I pre-ordered mine with HTS with 20%off + Free Ship coupon code, so it was only about $56 + tax for me, but they don't ship until about a month later though.

Ill be passing on this things for sure. 70$ lol just because it got a comic and talk box thing.. This thing should be like 25$ 30 tops. He is no different then any voyager class toy released today.
What i dont get is why they put such a price on the reissues.. Just like the rainbow bright seacon reissue being over 100$ WTF lol.. But then back when RID was out the released the Combaticons at a normal price. Why release one at norml cost and rape fans over a log for the seacons ?
They will wonder why people aint buying prime.. Wake up hasbro , lower the prices to a fare price and we will buy the stuff..

Im down in the LA area visiting and I found a lot of them at the huge Walmart in Panmorama[sp?] City. I got one and they had at least 10 left all across the top shelf [the toys are on the second story].

For those wondering why the steep price tag, consider the accumulation of stuff you're getting in this package:
Repro of G1 Optimus Prime
Reprint of the 1st (3?) issue(s) of the G1 Comic
DVD of the 1st 3 pilot episodes of the G1 Cartoon
Electronic belt buckle
The Commemorative Series reissue of Prime ran about $25 or so, if I recall correctly, and the value of a G1 Prime (in the mind of Hasbro execs at least) has increased due to added time AND increased popularity of the Optimus Prime character brought by the new movie.
Figure that, and the fact that you're gettin' about $18-25 worth of other stuff with him, and the price seem a bit more reasonable (or at least, less UNreasonable)

No way lol even with that junk thrown in its not worth that much.. Animated 2 pack came with a dvd and was still only 25$ lol.. Hasbro is just hoping more people like you think this so they can justify selling it for that crazy price...
Its like those stupid info mercials you see on tv at night .." If you buy the super chopper now for $99.95 we will throw in this LED cook book reading light an 80$ value yours FREE if you act now!!! "
In the end hasbro had to come up with an idea to rip us off even more so they added 10$ worth of "extras" to get us to think that the price is worth it.
Ill pick one up if i see them on clearence but no way in heck am i paying 70$.

G.I. Comic 2-packs include a comic AND retail for $5 cheaper than single-carded figures.
The DVD cost is iffy.
The belt buckle thing is a pointless inclusion.
Unfortunately, I've noticed some fans will accept and praise everything Hasbro gives out.
