I purchased the City Commander Trailer, but never got a hold of the actual Classics Ultra Magnus, and now I can't find one for less than $70.
I'll pay that if I have to, but it seems a little much.

I guess its my fault, I waited too long to pick one up of ebay, i think he was cheaper before.
Also because he was a target exclusive I couldn't buy him myself, we have no targets in Candada.

I was kind of counting on Takara releasing a henkei Ultra Magnus, but that doesn't seem to be happening.

Any ideas on how i can get one for a more reasonable price?

The City Commander Trailer is the reason it costs so much. Since the Trailer came out, there's been more demand for UM.

Seriously, a month before the City commander set was announced, you could pick that up on ebay for 15 bucks, shipped.

Nobody wanted the "white Prime" and I'm sure there are some people out there who bought the Magnus/Skywarp set and eBayed off the Magnus just to keep the Skywarp who are really kicking themselves now!

It may be cheaper for you to buy a loose Classics prime and spray paint him all white. You really can't see much of him in the City Commander armor anyway, in robot mode that is.

See if you can get a junker missing a head, as you have to fold the head in to put the armor on anyway, and you don't need the head for truck mode either.

That's probably the reason. I got mine via the Optimus/Magnus combo, the Skywarp combo is already very scarce.And yes, the City Commander really kicks @ss!

I'll sell you a loose, complete classic Magnus for $50 shipped or one with armor for $130 shipped. Check your pm.

Damn $70 for just Ultra Magnus alone? I haven't check ebay lately so I had no idea. Now I'm glad I kept the 2 sets of Ultra Magnus/Skywarp sealed. Time to unload them on ebay LOL

I know this is going to be painful since you are sitting on the trailer, but wait a few months (maybe six), they trailers are selling out everywhere, and the demand for Magnus should decline as less people are looking for one. With the trailers just being released, there is probably a flood of people like yourself looking for a Magnus right now.

This is probably the most cost-effective option right now.

Of course that will be more like $74 with shipping. Once again, back to spending over $70.

Damn, I think I'll have to offer out my extra set now too. $60 shipped for Magnus and Skywarp loose. PM if interested and feel free to haggle, I'm reasonable.

You could look on eBay for the Optimus/Magnus two pack, I picked up mine for 35 dollars US including shipping to NZ!

Those of us who refuse to touch Paypal are, unfortunately, screwed many times a year as we have to pay more to find non-Paypal purchase options.

Magnus Prime giftset for $63.99. Granted that is still over early retail but at least it's not $70 for just the magnus figure

It is worth noting that the only part of Magnus visible once the armor is applied is his thighs and the cab pieces on his forearms. So, really, any Classics Prime mold will look almost identical once inside the armor. Prime's red cab parts actually flow better with the armor colors, and the grey thighs don't make much difference as opposed to Magnus' white ones. In short, stick Prime in the armor for a few months, no one will know the difference, and buy a Magnus at your leisure.

That's where I got mine. I figured, with the cost of JUST Magus, I may as well get a 2nd toy with it.

The blue legs DO blend in with the armor's blue, FWIW. Optimus legs would stand out.
