I recently found out that the real world sponsor is actually French made cigarettes "Gitanes". Takara/Hasbro changed it to Citanes.

The seller lists it as Citanes but if you look at the picture of the ashtray, it actaully says Gitanes.

Back in the days when Mirage wa a chain smoker and fed his habit by advertising! Same too for Jazz - if only everyone realised that the reason he sounded so cool was for his alcohol problem!

Takara changed the "Gitanes" on Mirage to "Citanes", as they didn't wish to appear to be pushing cigarettes to children.

This action occurred after they produced Marlboro Wheeljack.

It is a racing sponsor or at least Gitanes was in real life. I suppose Citanes technically was a sponsor in Transformers continuity although they never talk about it.
