New Henkei Lucky Draw Figures

Transformers @ The Moon has posted images of new Lucky Draw figures that come from the Henkei line.

The two figures that were featured in TV Magazine are Henkei Convoy and Galvatron. Like most Lucky Draw figures, these two appear to sport the all gold chroming scheme that makes these figures highly desired and next to impossible to get.

According to the report, 5 pieces of each figure will be made and released in the March/April 2009 timeframe.

Good find! Bummer there's only 5 of each are getting made (which is why so hard to get them), but I'd pass anyway, just because I've already got the Classics/U2.0 counterparts.

I don't mind the chrome. Besides, Lucky Draw figures aren't common. (First Gen actually mentioned how hard Lucky Draw is to get.) You have nothing to worry about if you don't like the chrome, I think...

I've always thought these were pretty cool as a collector's item, but I've never figured out how one comes to own a Lucky Draw figure.

Either win the contest in Japan, or contacts, ebay, and lots of money.

Well I guess I can't have a complete classics Prime collection now. Oh well. I definitely find Lucky Draws to be interesting collectors items.

Okay, stay with me on this......the US came up with the original back story for Transformers, before that they were just nameless cool toys. Japan and America worked together to make this line great. So I ask; WHERE ARE THE CRAZY AWESOME RARE TOYS FOR AMERICANS??!! Sorry, but it kills me every time I see a lucky draw I can never own, unless I win the lottery. Sad.

Um... if Hasbro did crazy awesome rare toys, they'd be expensive. So I don't see how you'd be any closer to owning one.

I have a good feeling that we'll see an all silver Megatron like they've done in the past as well.

I think you would be massively disappointed as most lucky draws come in either a plain white box, or the same box as the original figure.

Why doesn't Hasbro do the same over here for us. I would love to own a Gold TransFormer, and no G2 Bumblebee doesn't count

Because of GPS. You'd loose your phakin mind when it all started to chip and flake away.

Besides, in Asia Transformers are actually geared towards a collectors market, unlike the rest of the world. Japan specifically is obsessed with Convoy. They will buy ANYTHING Convoy, that's why they get so many more releases then us. Just look at Sports Lable, E-Hobby, Trans-scanning, Special Protoform, Alternity, ect.

As a disgruntled Brit, I notice that my American friends don't seem to realise how lucky they are when it comes to Transformers.

I made it my goal recently to collect the entire movie line(and I've succeeded with the exception of the new Voyager Meg and OP repaints that are coming out soon), and it's absolutely amazing the amount of stuff that never comes out the UK. The G1-style Jazz, Deep Space Starscream, Battle-Damaged Prime etc. etc. I found it easier to get Tsutaya Bumblebee from Japan than getting Real-Gear Meantime from the US!

Let's not forget also that there are many US figures (such as the Botcon sets) which never make it to Japanese shores.

If you ever get to read this, GPS only affects plastics with lots of gold flake in it. It does not apply to chrome, which is always prone to flaking anyway. Since those Lucky Draws are all chrome, only your second reasoning applies :)

Hasbro did release a gold-plated version of 20th Anniversary Prime as a contest piece IIRC.

Of course, there's also a third method, other than GPS 'swirly' plastic and chroming (aka vacuum metallising).

I don't know if any other Transformers use this technique, but both the Movie Lawson Deluxe Bumblebee and Movie Tsutaya Legend Bumblebee are a dull gold platic, which then has a metallic gold paint layer applied over the top.

The dull gold can only be seen in the nooks and crannies (insides of the arms, etc), and the external gold paint has (so far) shown no signs of flaking off.

This actually gives a richer, darker gold hue than the chroming does.

Alright guys, I picked up Telebi magazine and I'm ready to enter. Do you think I should use my real age and (distinctly non-Japanese) name? Or shall I be 8-year-old Hiroto Takemura?

I don't think age matters... In fact, since it's a world of collector's after all, I suspect the majority entering the contest is of adult age. :)

Umm...this magazine is definitely aimed at kids. And the entry form is a survey about the magazine.
