Toys that for obvious reasons should have been named differently.

Ever look at toys like Energon Divebomb or Cybertron Swerve and think they should have been named differntly.

I say this because looking at the aforementioned characters, I just think Divebomb looks like a transformable Banzai-tron. Even read a bio once that named Divebomb as a ninja like character, so he has a martial arts heritage like Banzai-tron.

Swerve, the red version of Cybertron Clocker just screams Hot Rod to me.

I even see Battle Ravage as G1 Rampage.

I suppose this will tangent off into a repaint thread so here goes.

Would love to see a Wreckers tribute from the Botcon guys.

Armada Tidal wave repainted as Broadside.

Strongarm as Roadbuster which I heard had been considered at one point.

Maybe Evac as Whirl.

Remold Robotmasters Megatron as Impactor.

Stick 2 RM Wingstuns together by the wings and call them Rack 'n' Ruin who were Cybertronian mini-jets before they were bonded together.

I can see this becoming a Potential Repaint Thread or something, but I always thought C-Unicron and Titanium Fallen would both make good Bludgeons.

I always thought of Cybertron Swerve as a good Windcharger. Small, fast, dark red sports car Autobot. Excellion is Hot Rod.

Movie Barricade as Bludgeon - you could even paint Frenzy to look like the inner robot Bludgeon.

Cybertron Defense Hotshot as G1 Roadbuster.

Dont think i've ever heard of G1 Roadbuster.

Ive often wondered if, with a good coat of purple and a little remolding, Cyb Sideways would make a reasonable Cyclonus.

This guy? I don't see Cybertron Hot Shot as him, though.

No wonder I couldnt work out who they were on about... that as similer to either version of cyb Hot Shot as my atempts at 'singing' are to the origanals...

Near to all of the G2 Gobots, or any figures named inappropriately in order to keep certain names alive in the TF universe. Like Soundwave in BW or Frenzy in G2. Terrible, just aweful names in general like Movor and Ro-Tor. Geez.

I always though Cybertron Hardtop should have been repainted into Beachcomber, heck I even did a digibash for it.

And i always though Cybetron Unicron had a Galvatron type vibe to him. If only the cannon where unmountable, and able to be placed on his forearm. it would have been a great homage. With a purple color scheme of course.

every single bayformer should have been given some generic name instead of disgracing their original namesakes.

The more obvious ones:

Energon and Cybertron Downshift should have been Wheeljack.

And Energon tow-Line should have been Skids.

In answer to an earlier post, I said Strongarm, the Energon Omni-con, would make a good Roadbuster. Not Clocker/Swerve.

Plus another reason I like Swerve as Hot Rod is that he's similar in scale to G1 Prowl and the gang. Don't like the Deluxe cars we've been getting since Armada, ruins the whole scale thing. That's why I will never buy Classics Hot Rod and Bumblebee. Even as a kid, if someone gave me Classics Starscream and Hot Rod, the scale inconsistencey would have bothered me.

Classics Megatron, the tank version, really looks like IDW Bludgeon. Anyone agree? Only differnce is the horns on the head and the half face thing.

Hardtop with a remolded head would make a nice Ruckus.

Energon Signal Flare reminds me of Actionmaster Mainframe.

G2 Road Rocket has an Actionmaster Rad vibe.

Cybertron Brakedown reminds me of WW Kup if you changed the head, even just losing the horns.

Cybertron Ransack really reminds me of WW Protectobot Groove. Especially with the wide shoulders and motor cycle modes.

Shortround could easily be Seaspray.

Any excuse to complain.

Yeah! That's exactly what I thought when I first opened Swindle up.

Cybertron Optimus Prime should be painted up like Guiltor. A firetruck with a bunch of guns is actually pretty close to his alt. The overall design(at least in Super mode) isn't too far off for a heavily armed evil-Prime. Of course, I don't have the figure, so maybe I'd change my mind if I had it.

I think that's all I got for now.

SOme obvious one, that they changed the names of during production, or were obvious homages:

Universe Inferno should be Red Alert.
Classic Menasor should be Motormaster.
Classic Fireflight should be Powerglide.
Classic Micro Bumblebee should be Sunstreaker.
Universe Ironhide should be Trailbreaker.
Universe Spy Changer Prowl should be Red Alert.
Energon Shockblast as Shockwave.
Armada/Cybertron Red Alert should be Ratchet.

G2 Racecar whose name escapes me reminds me of Slapdash.

There's another G2 car that was released as both an Autobot and Decepticon depending on your side of the Atlantic that just says Joyride to me. He's one of those TF's that squirts water.

Real Gear Spyshot 6 could be Classics Reflector
