Does anyone else do this?

With the intent of completing the set of available Revoltech Transformers, I set aside some cash to buy Revoltech Magnus and Prime. Today, it was all cleared and ready to be used, so I started searching around to find the absolute best prices I could. After a couple of hours searching through eBay stores, I'd ended up buying this set of mini Revoltech stuff:

I've never watched Neon Genesis Evangelion. I have almost no interest in anime. Hell, until about an hour before I bought that set, I thought the designs were ugly (the sodding great gattling gun and positron rifle won me over). So why have I ended up buying something that is almost totally unconnected to what I was looking for, and does anyone else do this?

you'de be suprised how many time I'll go out looking for a tf, not find it and end up buying something else just to have something. It's a bad habbit but it's how I've ended up with quite alot of my tfs. :P

That's bad as well. That "well, I want to buy SOMETHING" that sees you end up with... well, in my case, a load of the Movie stuff. :?

I don't end up buying things I'm not all that interested or conected to, but I do find myself putting a lot of time and energy into researching things. I'll see some random image on a website or some item on ebay and say to myself, that looks cool. Then I'll look it up on Google and spend hours researching until I decide this is something I'm really not that interested in.

I didn't like the Eva's at first either, but after having one of the model kits in my hands it was awesome. While the anime is not that good, you'll definitely like the toys. I'm not sure about the revoltech stuff, but I really liked my models I got.

I think there's definitely something about that with Ebay..,I remember a while ago I was really looking for some good G stuff and ended up with huge Beast Wars lots.

I've grown to really like Revoltech in general. There's a lot of stuff they do that (at the moment) doesn't appeal, but the ones that do are fantastic. The Evas grew on me after I started reading reviews when I thought "God, I wonder why anyone buys these things?" Then the more I looked at pictures, the better they started to look. Finding the two mini Evas, with weapons packs, for under £20 posted sealed the deal. Damn you, hkricky2002!

That's what I usually end up doing too. I lurk around the forums, something catches my eye, on to wiki I go, and then I see something else on wiki that catches my eye, and the cycle continues.....

I wish it worked that way for me. As soon as I'm looking for more information on something, that's normally it added to my mental "must buy" list. :(

Each year at BotCon, I buy one Revoltech Eva for a friend of mine here at home. I first started this when I picked up Revoltech Megatron for myself and saw the Eva figures. Having watched the series, I really like these, and they make great gifts for friends who are into non-TF giant robots.

I can't say I ever buy something I don't intend to. Generally if I go hunting for something it is all I want. And if I can't find it I just don't buy anything. Which makes some shopping trips rather annoying.

The more likely scenario for me is I go looking for nothing in particular and end up with something random. Which is how I ended up with most of the Cobra High Command on top of my PC. I was just browsing the toy aisle and noticed the 25th anniversary Joes. So I bought some for my kid. Then I bought a few more. Then I decided I actually liked them so I got the inevitable Snakes Eyes and Storm Shadow combo. Then the Cobra Command 5 pack. Then I just had to have all of Cobra High Command and even a few troops to round them out. Now I just need Dr. Mindbender and a better Serpentor and I think I will be happy with it. Thankfully I'm usually pretty good at saying no to myself.

I almost bought a small lot of Animated crap last night due to the great deals found on Amazon, but luckily I stopped by Youtube and checked out the reviews again for each figure before pulling the trigger. Even at over 60% off they still look too damn ridiculous, boring, or in most cases a combination of the two. Too bad, too, because I wanted to grab Universe Heavy Load for dirt cheap but couldn't find anything else to put my order over $25 for free shipping. Wish I didn't already have all the other non-Animated figs that were on sale and could take advantage of some of these deals!

Mostly happens when I go out TF hunting, and no-one has anything (happens more and more often of late).

Thus my TMNT, DBZ, Lego and HotWheels collections continue to grow...
