Value for money? I don't think so.

I've watched a few TFA episodes and while I don't think it's the greatest TF series I shall certainly be watching the rest. As I found myself with an abundance of gift vouchers I decided to buy some of the main characters:

Leader Megatron
Leader Bulkhead
Voyager Prime
Voyager Starscream

To start with Megs frustrated me cos he's slightly knocked-kneed which detracts from the menacing look somewhat. Also, thanks to the ratchets in his legs he can't stand up straight very well - he either leans forward or topples backwards. With his curved thighs it's very hard to find a good pose for his legs.

Then I started looking at other figures that cost around £40 and I really started to feel cheated. When I compared the poseability of Movie Leader Prime (individual finger articulation, ankle articulation and even toe articulation) combined with his perfectly proportioned limbs and fascinatinly complex transformation Megatron really seems a bit lame, even though I enjoy his transformation and know that complexity isn't the be-all-and-end-all. As for Bulkhead, who is pathetically short and very unposeable and can't even look sideways... oh dear.

Next I put my Movie Leaders, Universe Ultras and TFA Leader Class together. Megatron is really the same size as an Ultra but costs £15 more! And what of Bulkhead? His head is level with Powerglide's shoulder! What does the extra £15 get? Oh yeah, a few extra sounds that wouldn't have amused me for more than a few minutes when I was eight.

I'm relatively happy with Megatron and Prime, but only because I didn't actually part with a penny thanks to those vouchers. I'm not sure about Starcream, maybe he'll grow on me.

Even though I had vouchers and Bulkhead was on sale at £30 I still feel ripped off and I shall take him back to the shop for a refund tomorrow.

I know most of you think these guys are great but I shall be sticking to other lines in future - but at least my wallet is happier for this experience!

Oh FFS... "size" means more than "height."

And size wasn't my main complaint.

i've gotten a few of the deluxes and have actually been really happy with them, but my one experience with a larger class (voyager starscream) was just pitiful. just junk. i won't purchase any more voyager/leader from the animated line. i do want everyone to know that these opinions don't reflect my feelings about the deluxes-i have been SUPER HAPPY with all of those that i've gotten.

Megatron is too small, he's no bigger than an ultra. Movie Megatron is taller and has more mass than animated Megatron, yet somehow they're the same size class...?

Both also have simple transformations, and sound/light gimmicks too.

It's the price of things. You pay for more and get less these days.

I like the animated toys much more than the movie toys. My movie toys are long gone to storage, but my animated stay out on the shelf.

And Animated Megatron displayed flying thanks to a 'doll stand' is fantastic looking! The swords, the gun, the pretty close to G1 bot mode... really cool!

I've been pretty "meh" about the animated line...Some are cool and some are poopy...I only have a few but I really like Voyager Optimus and Megatron (though as stupid as I feel saying this, I can't figure out how to get Megatron transformed back into his jet for the life of me)...

Many of the deluxe have been decent as well...But having no particular afinity for the show, I really only buy animated figures once in awhile when there just isn't anything else at all from the other lines I want...

Oh, I have to admit that leader Ultra Magnus is fantastic...
