My GF calls certain kinds of TF's "unfolders." This is when the alt mode basically looks like arms, legs and a body contorted into a weird position, and the bot mode doesn't look much better. Some contemporary examples:
Cybertron Metroplex
Armada Cyclonus
And I know a lot of G1's are like this, like Scorponok or the other bases

I thought the protoforms were going to be like this, but their transformations are actually kind of complex. Any other examples?

Most of the pretenders when they don't have their shells. Especially the ones that turn into things like "futuristic hovercraft".

Yeah, that's a good one. I guess Cyb Menasor or Energon Shockwave as well, if I didn't like them so much anyway. Basically anything that turns into something that doesn't really exist, like a weird drill-cannon-gun-airplane (my fave).

Vector Prime is another example. One of my coworkers took him in vehicle mode and when she transformed it she was like, How come this guy is just stretching his legs back? that's it?
