Will we ever get a true Classics Soundwave? I just transformed the ravage that came with Hound and he looks like he could perfectly fit into a voyager class new mold. But I guess just wishful thinking.

I heard that the blue Music Label Soundwave is a good substitute for the classic line, but nevertheless, there were plans for a classic Soundwave, as I know it have been cancelled:

I liked both thanks guys. For me its hard to see him as an suv. I had to get used to him as a scion for animated.

The one Sledge posted looks like it has a very similar transformation scheme to Classics Megs'. But where does the left arm go in recorder mode?

I don't think this was a design for a TF toy, but I'd say the left arm and the head could fold onto his back.

Damn I wish they would make that one in the colour picture and stop trying to convince us that we don't still want him to be a tape player or something similar - WE DO!!!!
Soundwave - What should he be!!!!

To me Soundwave is a pretty special character. I didn't have him when I was a kid but I loved his voice and look and had every bit of merchandise with him on. I think because I couldn't find him in the shops on the rare occasions I convinced my mum to buy me a TF he had a sort of cult fascination for me. I never knew what the actual toy properly really looked like until I got the internet! Even for G1 he is amazing and I am now the ADULT owner of a 1983 Complete with Buzzsaw one ( unboxed - yeah I did open it! ).
I know the MP3 version is out there but it is £119.99 in the one and only shop I can find it in in my nearest town centre ( Liverpool ) and there is no way I can afford that. The titanium 'nappywave' was, I think, an insult to fans!
But Hasbro / Takara seem to be hell bent on persuading us he can't be a tape player anymore and has to be a vehicle of some kind. Why? Frenzy wasn't a vehicle in the film and he still shifted a lot of merch!
So am I deluded by my childhood or DO WE WANT A TAPE PLAYER BASED CLASSIC SOUNDWAVE?
Adult collectors have a lot more 'disposable income' than faddy kids who are only getting their parents to buy them what they have seen on the movies or what their friends tell them is cool.
Please discuss. lol

Dude, someone started a thread about this about an hour ago. It's still in the top half dozen threads on page one of the Toy Forum.

I love mini-cassettes! That's great! Too bad it's just a sketch.

I'm assuming that's a custom?

Yeah, that's a custom. Nice one too ... but if it were official I'd really want it to look more like the cartoon tapedeck more (even if it was made more fancy). And I'd want it to have a level base for the tape deck mode.
I'm very happy with my MP3 soundwave ....and Rumble and Frenzy that went with him too, for that matter. It's cool to have some non-tape tapedeck accessories to be his minions. I dunno if anyone's really satisfied with Titanium Soundwave ... unlike Scourge or Rodimus, or even Ultra Magnus, that guy just is no good as a Classics character. Dunno how they could screw that up. Soundwave's the most brickiest of all brick transformers. Because he transforms into a rectangle!
If they made a tapedeck Soundwave, I think it'd be fair to want it to be compatable with Ravage and the other G1 cassettes. Although, since I have the MP3 one, I dunno if I'd buy it. Although I'd definately buy the Blaster repaint!

That is an outstanding custom!
I use the "classic" Soundwave from TRU as my soundwave in my calssics setup.

That was Guido Guido's design for Soundwave's appearance in All Hail Megatron, you know to give him an alt-mode that actually is in use nowadays but how well we know how that turned out.

Archer himself said that
was the Classics Soundwave.
He said pretty much, that they really couldn't top the original.
(Take up your issues with that statement with him, not me.)

Best custom Soundwave I've seen

For some reason I don't have the alt mode pic saved but it is out there
and just because this was also in my photobucket

Think I might get my self a reprolabels set for him soon

Good call on the Masterpiece inclusion. That is a good looking drawing, and it would be nice to see in bigger Masterpiece size.
As I was messing around with Classics Ravage I got myself to wondering if maybe Hasbro isn't going to at least release Classics Cassetticons instead of a new Soundwave. Isn't new Ravage supposed to fit inside reissue Soundwave? I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but I remember reading that line somewheres. Classics Cassetticons would be excellent, and personally I'd rather have them than a new Soundwave.

Somebody at hasbro said when and if universe comes back after the movie the two characters we wants to make are soundwave and rinox. Imao soundwave would look good as an suv with speakers.

Please don't say things like that, even in jest. You might give Hasbro the idea that it would be acceptable.

lol what's wrong with an suv? can you really see kids buying a deluxe boombox? And even if they made him one it wouldn't be in scale and couldn't really do much on its own. Kids would get bored.

I don't understand why they are making Beast Wars era figures as part of the Classics line up. Yeah yeah yeah, I know. It's Universe. Yeah, it's the 25th anniversary of the franchise and blah blah. But really, why not release the three years ago rereleased Beast Wars reissues again for the 25th, like they rerererereissued the G1 Prime? I saw Dinobot and Cheetor at Target last night and damn are they bad looking. They make the BW originals look good. I don't know. I liked BW as a show and a concept but really can't support beastformers, so my bias is showing but still, I am displeased. Greatly displeased.
Some one, come please me.

Have you seen the original Dinobot figure?? IMO, the new version looks much better (and either way, it's definitely more show-accurate). All it's missing is the blue.
As for Cheetor, he's okay. I love him from the knees up, but his lower legs bug me.
