To buy or not to buy? --- Botcon 2007 set

I've never wanted a botcon set... until now. I really don't want to support the price gouging, but if I don't get one, someone else will. They're going to be in high demand I'm sure. So I'm wondering... is it worth it? Should I wait it out and hope that classics gets revisited after the movie? I wouldn't leave this set misb, so it's not like it'd be a good investment, beacause I'll rip these suckers open and put them on the shelf right as I get them... that is if I do get them.
I'm debating selling off my entire alternators collection (I have them all except nemesis, mirage, camshaft, ravage 2, and rumble) just to get this set. Is it really worth it? Is anyone else having the same predicament?

I think the set is worth buying. I pre-ordered it and have been charged for it as 4/30/2007.
As for worth selling off some of your existing TF's, that's debatable. I'm not in that situation so I can't advise. But I can pose the question of do you have
all of the other Classics figures? If you do, is giving up those others figures worth it to you to complete your Classics collection? The answers to those questions may help you answer your main question to begin with.

It's too much money for three decepticon seeker jets. Down the line Hasbro might release them at some point. The demand is always there.

I'm not personally interested in the set but I don't think it's going to ever see mass release or be easy / cheap to get after BotCon, so I'd say the above is good advice.

This will never happen. Not in those color schemes and remolds. Not ever. I personally wouldn't sell off my Alt collection as it's complete and I adore that line. It's all a question of what your own collecting priorities are. I want them and I have the means to attend Botcon so I will have them. This is not a question anyone can answer for you.

Honestly, this wasn't as hard of a decision as I thought it would be. I love the Classics line. I can get a full seeker set, plus some bonus figures that will be highly collectible and look great with all my other Classics...and I can put it on a credit card and save a bit here and there for the next 2-3 months to pay it off. In fact, I just suspended other TF buying until the set is paid for--the movie line will be around through Christmas anyway.
There's always a way, my friend. Get the set. You'll be glad you did.

ehh.. I don't have the money right now, i'm kinda stretched thin, but I have faith that the seekers will make their way into a line up down the road.. Hasbro has a way of rereleasing stuff, and the Universe line up shows it..but it would be a great way to restart classics after the dust settles from the movie and a good segway leading up to the sequel..I personally want to see a seeker box set that has Star scream, skywarp, and thundercracker.. then a dirge, ramjet....and ect...that would be a nice additon to the classics, but as far as purchasing things under the Botcon Banner.. meh.. i have the MP Skywarp coming out, the Movie line up coming, and I gotta try to get as many alternators between now and the movie debut..plus the reissue lines, and the music and sports label figures intrigue me.. so yeah, kinda spread thin at the moment..

It will not happen.
So if you want your shot at them get them now.
I got mine because I wanted to finish my classics seeker collection.

Hehe, I love the humor you brought to this and that those of us that should know by now, myself, you and Cyber Bishop have already answered any question that they'll see retail release. It seems everyone wants to ignore the facts. IT'S NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.

If you do decide to sell, I got dibs on Alternators Swerve!!
He's the only Alt. that I don't have. I even have NP and Camshaft, just no freakin Swerve.

I'm a cash strapped person as well but I know I want those figures since I love the classics line.
as for worth? Well being a club member I get to read the comic and it features the classics line in them now so the comic with the set will feature the set with the other classics characters. That is a nice bonus. I bought the astrotrain and airrazor and was really impressed with the collectors box that came with, so the box is also very impressive. The Darkwing (can't remember what they call him) will be a repaint/remold of Jetfire and that will look great you'll see soon this week i'm sure. I love the jetfire mold so all in all its really a good set.
If you love classics this will probably be the coolest set of the three for you.
If you can find a way to get the Iacon package, then you can say you took the chance rather than waited and lost it and now have to hunt for it on eBay.
Best advice I can give

Hmm never gonna happen? I'm not so sure about that. I remember posting how I really wanted an MP Megatron that turned into a gun... lots of people said that too would never happen. Guess who was wrong. Though I do agree that it probably won't happen. Just never say never

Thanks to all for the advice, how do I even order a set? I can't attend botcon. I looked on botcon.com and I couldn't figure it out.
-- I figured it out, had to download acrobat reader, and now I'm going to have to fax my credit card #? Is that even safe? I think I'll go for it, it's a one chance deal. I'll just skip out on the movie toys.

It's hard to decide. The only one I really want is Thundercracker. Maybe someone will sell them as individual figures.

Yeah, it's a bit scary faxing your CC#, but I haven't heard of any problems. I'm going the same route--only selective movie toys for me...

Yeah I was concerned as well but many have done so with no problems so far. I really do wish they would move to a more secure method though.

Hey i just had a brilliant idea. Maube, just maybe, they will rerelease the convention exclusive box set to general public. You know, cause they are having trouble selling all of them as it is now...could we even see a price reduction. Even better they can include the yet to be confirmed alt rodimus's fishing pole with it.
While we are at it, i think takara should take EVERY lucky-draw figure ever produced and mass produce them.
