Seibertron.com was first to bring you the news that HASBRO, Inc. had projected price increases for Deluxe Class figures and below way back here. Now, while are initial report stated that these increases were to take affect on September 1, 2008, most Transformers products actually saw a decrease in price in the retail chain "sale wars" that took place for the 2008 Holiday season. But Seibertron.com has just received photo proof that the price increase is upon us.





These photos were taken at an area Walmart store earlier today. While the price increase hit the Deluxe line of figures, no other figures within the 10 or less increase bracket appeared to be increased.

I was just in Target today and they have deluxes at $7-something...But yikes!

Ack, that sucks! Bad enough that it went from the $7.77 up to $9.96 again...

I know, these prices are re-damn-diculous. I paid 13 somthing for a freaking Animated Swoop today. For a few bucks more I could have gotten Animated Voyager Megatron. Come on government this s**t is just wrong. bad enough we get gouged for everything else buy now our below $10 plastic crack too. now I suppose we have to make due with legends class whenever we're broke and need a quick TF pick-me-up.

The Wal-Mart in my area had the price tags up for $12.88 but when I took Smokescreen up to the check out lane it wasn't in their system yet, they asked me how much it was and I said $5.99 so I got a good deal on him.

Woah! Deluxes are down to only $12.88? That's amazing. I hope these new lower prices come into effect in Quebec real soon. $15 per Deluxe really blows.

This blows, I still need to buy more toys.

However I know that the deluxe prices are still higher in other countries, so I will try not to complain about the increase that much.

Wonder how this will affect Canadian prices?

Man...that is expensive...especially for how thrashed the packaging was on that Galvatron fig in the picture...I'd try and get a discount on it considering it looks like an abused toy.

i think they need to go on a long term 'sale' of $9.99. its silly they can be $7.77 one week, $9.88 the next, and $12.88 the week after that. just let things settle in the middle

I think someone was pissed off at the price and took it out on the toy.

This happened to me too, though I said 7.50 (what they were maked down to originally around here), I figured going too low would of been more suspicious. -.n Which reminds me, I need to update my sig.

What just 15? Damn I'd love some 15 dollar deluxes but I'll just have to live with the $23 I pay.
But damn the Aussies have the bigger e-peen when it gets to most expensive deluxe prices.

O hope the price increase doesn't come to Europe as well, deluxe are already 17 euro here which is ridiculous.

Well that is our price increase they used to be 16 before TFA hit shelves.

The problem with this, is when you give peaple a fig for around $8 a pop, then suddenly expect peaple (especially parents buying for kids) to then just accept that its fine to pay 5 bucks more a pop around $13 for the same toys now.. Thats what doesnt work, its called saying goodbye to alot of your sales, because peaple dont like getting ripped off.. ( Yes I realize other countries are paying more then in the USA) But the casual buyer and parents in the USA dont realize this, they just know that it was $8 and now $13??? Thats a rip off.. Hell even those in the USA that do know $13 is cheaper then other countries, alot of us still cant afford this hike especially if voyagers go up as well and leaders, this has me thinking I might skip the TF2 line all together wich I dont want to do, but Hasbro is pushing me and alot of others out of the game with these comming prices.. The UK has fazed in the 30% increase over the last year. Shelf prices on Universe deluxes were the first to see an increase from 10GBP to 13GBP whith Animated deluxes initially remaining at the lower price point. We're currently seeing retailers begin to apply the increase to Animated deluxes as well. The other price points havn't seen any change over here although Activators go for 5GBP which is quite cheap in relation to the comparative pricing structure in the US.

want to hear the real kicker?the unit price(price the store pays per unit) is $7.92

Man, I'd be happy to see some deluxes on shelves PERIOD. Regardless of price. I searched a major percentage of Vancouver Island (which I'm right near the top of, in a town where we have literally nothing, and have to travel at least three hours to get anywhere that I can buy any TFs) and nobody's got anything... Though if the price is going up, and everywhere I've been at has been selling them for $14.99 since Energon... yeah by the time I find deluxes again I'm probably gonna be shelling out $20-$25 a pop depending on location...
