MP-05 advice

I've ordered myself an MP-05 (should have it later this week), and I was wondering if someone could point out specific areas to be careful with on it should I dare to transform it

I've seen one review on YouTube where it split in half at the waist, so I know about that, but I've also heard of some tabs breaking - are there specific tabs to be wary of it is it just a case of "if it sticks out a bit, it'll likely break"?
I do know it's entirely possible to not break it (seen another video of a guy transforming it in about 5 minutes), I'd just like to know what
can go wrong

I never transformed mine, so I can't help you there, but one piece of advice I have (that someone else may be able to recomend a product for) is to clear coat his feet with something. Saw something about them rusting/tarnishing a while back, and I looked at mine the other day and they are tarnished.

Really there is nothing you should worry about. Just approach him for what he is, a masterpiece collectable.
He's not an alternator figure, nor is he a movie figure. Yes his transformation is more complex, but it isn't hard.
Just don't force things that don't wanna go, and you'll be fine.
Seriously, if I can transform this figure so easily, why does the majority of the fandom have such a problem? I can't read japanese and I found the instructions more than adequate. I'm no better than anyone else at this sorta stuff either.

Well, on the one hand...

Thanks for the replies, guys... I'm going to try and find some clear coat once he arrives, too

Sorry about the rant. It really riles me up when so many moan about poor QC and weak plastic, yet none of mine have these problems. It just suggests that a few too many are too heavy handed with these things.
But yes, cautiousness is the name of the game. Dunno about the clearcoat personally, our MP-05 never had the "cosmic rust" problem.

I've transformed mine 8-10 times and had no issues. Granted, the first time I transformed him it must have taken close to 2 hours, but I was being extra careful (as I am with any MP figure) and double checking the instructions all the way.
BTW, his alt mode looks awesome with the accessory packs to give him the stock and silencer. He ends up being huge!

I think that the cosmis rust issue is just the metal oxidising. A quick polish will remove the rust so that's an easy fix.
Like all transformers, you need to apply steady pressure - not forcing a part to move. Just study the instructions and take your time and you'll be fine. For the criticism MP Megatron gets, I think that he's a fine addition to the Masterpiece line.

I'm hoping so - I've put him off for ages because of all the doom-and-gloom posts I've seen, but... me wanty

And City Commander - I didn't see any rant in your messages, just advice from the "just be a little more careful" camp

Thanks, all

Be smart about transforming him. If something seems to not move, don't force it, look at the instructions, and take your time. As many have said, it takes a long time the first go, just make sure you do it right.
I haven't had any parts fall, or break off, or any 'cosmic rust' issues either. Maybe lots of members had sweaty little hands, or couldn't stop drooling when they got the figure?
Enjoy it!

I'm getting my MP-05 next week...I'm a little intimidated from having watched youtube videos of him being transformed but not so much because I'm afraid of breaking him (I'm extra careful transforming ALL my TFs until I know what I'm doing) but moreso the intense intricasy involved with his transformation

But I don't plan on ever transforming him more than once or twice...I usually transform my figures periodcally for fun, but for the amount of money those MPs cost, I'm happy just to look at them

I've transformed and reposed him many times with no trouble. Cos I handle him carefully and respectfully.
