Identity of ROTF Audi R8 Revealed...

TFormers.com has received some official images of some Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen figures. Though most of this toys were showcased during
this week's ToyFair, one image stands out among the rest - an in-package photo of the un-named Audi R8 Decepticon, long thought to be a reformated Barricade.
Fans now have official word that this is not the case, and that the R8 is a new character who will go by the name of
Sideways.

Besides Armada, was there any other TF fiction that used the name "Sideways?"

The name was used in RID for a yellow Autobot Bike, but other then that, It's been used as essentially the same character in Armada and Cybertron. I guess between him and the Fallen, all signs point to Unicron. Oh well. I was hoping the movie-verse would avoid Unicron, but I'm not going to pass judgement until we see how he'll be executed.
Besides, maybe it's just a name. After all, nothing about the name Sideways itself says Unicron.
Maybe it still is Barricade, but he decided to change his name too? Who knows! Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Looks like that post from a few weeks ago was right about the name.
But I really hope that the rumor that Movie Sideways is a herald of Unicron is false.

Barricade or not, he still looks heavily influenced by 'Cade's design. Kinda like the whole Rampage/Bonecrusher thing.

Thanks for the heads-up. Anyway, it seems like Audi, unlike some other car companies (*cough*Ford*cough), they have no qualms about having one of their cars seen as a bad guy...
Now, if only Volkswagen can get over their WWII problems...

Actually they did. The toy is a generic version of the R8.
There are no Audi logos and most of the cars recognizable features are simplified.
(and Audi, Volkswagen, Lamborghini, and Porsche are all part of the same company)

If you look closely on the video game trailer, you can see Sideways is a playable character. I really don't think they would have a mysterious herald of Unicron as a playable character. Then again, I could be wrong.

You have nailed the operative word that has screwed up everyones conceptions of this new movie...rumor! That and it's demented third cousins, conjecture and misconception, have engaged in a drunken 3-way with miscommunication being the by-product.
Sideways is just another name, the Fallen is just another name, and the Movie-verse is it's own unique creature. Those who see it as more than that and read more into it are the ones responsible for screwing it up for everyone else.
As for the Audi...I think it is way cool that the Decepticons are adding more cars to their ranks. It shows a greater degree of sophistication and strategic thinking than just employing sheer brute force. Sadly, that glimmer of genius is overshadowed, horrifically, by the use of Devastator, but having 2 vehicles able to blend (provided Barricade is still functional) is better than nothing.

God damn it! What the hell happened to Barricade? He never got killed off in the movie. The only bot i liked and hes not returning. Man this blows. Well at least theres still one decent TF in the movie. May not be Barricade but he at least theres still one looks like a TF. I have the feeling theres some link between Barricade and Sideways. They look way to similar.

maybe Unicron will reformat Barricade into Sideways... nah, Unicron would never do something like that. it's not his style
(I seriously doubt that's what's gonna happen in case the sarcasm wasn't strong enough)

The rumors are specifically why I try to avoid the Movie Forum. We really arn't going to know what will happen untill we actually see footage like we did the other week with the trailer, or get some bios for the characters. Everything else is just "he tell me" and "my friend said".
I've approached the second movie just like I did the first, I'm not believing anything until we get actual facts. Far as I'm concerned the name Sideways was only picked because it sounds cool. And untill we gen more information, or see the back of his card my opinion isn't changing.
And Megatron_Wolf, don't worry about Barricade. We saw pictures of several of the Saleens on a flatbed being transported when filming began. They wouldn't be moving those cars unless they needed them for the film, So I'm sure he will be in it somewhere. (Unless they were part of that Drunken 3-way T-Macksimus was talking about
)

Speculation:
Barricade, knowing how the chips are falling, decides to get the hell outta Dodge before the Autobots track him down. Going into hiding, he intercepts Optimus Prime's open broadcast to Autobots in space... and sees his opportunity for a life that wasn't eternal hiding.
After a while, he reformats himself into this new Audi form, and approaches the Autobots as "Sideways," extending a hand in friendship... only to later be found out (by the Arcee Trio) as an undercover Decepticon working for Starscream.

Ok then, kinda releaved. I like Barricade as the police type Saleen. Maybe if we get Prowl in TF 3, we can have good cop verses bad cop then.
Nice use of the name though, wonder what the character will be like.

This could only result in a series of buddy-cop action movies. Bot Cops, Bot Cops II: Cleaning up the Robot Streets, and of course, Bot Cops 3D: The Killination. "He was 2 oil changes away from retirement!"
Someone better fund this.

Barricade gets smashed to the **** by prime in the 1st film. It just happens off screen. Not sure if they filmed it, and didn't put it in the film, or what ever,... But in the book, and in the movie comic, he gets smashed, probably killed.
(Not sure if there has been any material to say he survived?)
This is a new bot, its not Barricade. Why doesn't every one want it to be barricade so much?
