What to look for from the Club this coming year

On the Transformers Collectors Club Forums, Pete@Botcon has posted about what to possibly expect from the club this coming year. Though it is pretty vague for the most part, one part does stand out:

Pete@Botcon wrote:As far as the incentive figure, right now we are still hashing out the story. Once we have done that we will decide on the toy. We have a few ideas in mind and I really can't say much as far as who or what we are looking at. Part of it depends on the direction the brand is going as well, so as always, there are a lot of factors. I can say that the ideas we have been throwing around are pretty wild and would be doing something that would kind of throw people for a loop (we like doing that )

Now Club Exclusives. I know it is the standard response, but we are working on them. The guys and I got together and came up with some very cool ideas. One of them is WAYYYY out there, way out of the box lol. One is an automatic in my opinion. So we'll see. They will go to the Bro' and then we will go from there...

So the short answer is yes, we are working on more plastic crack, that is for sure. Brian and I have talked about us needing to get the club toys up to speed and we are working on it. We are always open to suggestions too. If you have an idea or two, post them. I have read through the idea threads many times...

Now, other improvements. We are looking at new board software. I will actually be getting back to that here this week.

I have some ideas for the Members only page. That is on my list as well.

Hope that answered a little bit. I will take more questions in this thread...

- Pete

The comment "One is an automatic in my opinion" makes me hopeful that we're gonna get a Punch/Counter punch from cls/uni Sunstreaker/Sideswipe mold!! :D

Nah, I was thinking that he meant Classics Cyclonus into Classics Strafe. That's an obvious one isn't it?

I really doubt they'd do that when they could go for SG Cyclonus.

But I do think that we're looking at Punch...finally.

I was thinking Hound into Swindle, but I suppose what I would see as automatic wouldn't be the same the Club's thought.

G2 Stunticons and/or protectobots would be nice. But with better plastic/quality control than the seacons.

They would not only be nice, they would be AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

I would by like 5 sets of each...well maybe two.

Still, I don't think they are the 'obvious one' that Pete was talking about. The out there ideas are kind of scary, but you have to imagine that they would not do anything that they did not think would have a high possibility of selling a lot of items.

I think Optimus Primal said it best: "Sometimes crazy works"

I guess time will tell.

If the Club did Classics Strafe, it would be BotCon07 Seekers all over again. "I had to pay $$$ and jump through five fiery hoops to get this thing from Japan, and now it's worth crap!"

Seriously though, if they do PCP I will take back every bad thing I ever thought about the Club.

PS- Read that sentence again without the TF connotation of PCP.

Basically, that whole thing is a long way of saying, "We're working on stuff, but we won't tell you what."

And if they're looking for ideas I gave a couple in my posts in the Landshark thread.

Since the pattern for a $40 club exclusive each year has been a Deluxe with a new head, I figured that's be what we will get. The obvious choice is the most popular minor character to pop up in club fiction lately who fits that description - Shattered Glass Ratchet, who appeared in Dungeons & Dinobots! I'd love to get him and a mini-comic, with a story spotlighting him in it. Evil doctor Frankenstein theme story. Maybe he could make the Shattered Glass Autobot X in th comic?

lol, I was actually going for PCP the narcotic there. I somehow got the mental image of the Club guys running up and down walls and benchpressing cars.

Although, by buying the Club figures, aren't we all whoring ourselves out to the Club? We're crackwhores. Our crack just happens to be plastic. :)

If the club takes a lesson from the "wizards" at Hasbro who came up with two different sets of movie Constructicons, they can just make two different remolds of Classic Sunstreaker. One turns into Punch, the other into Counterpunch. You just have to purchase both figures and then play with the one that fits which form you want to use. ;-)

Watch out for Hasbro's new line of "Robot Copouts" next fall, where they completely forgoe transforming toys all together and just put a non-Transforming robot and a non-transforming car in the same box and tell kids to just pretend it changes back and forth.

nah, it's clearly obvious they're going to do a repaint of Cybertron Defense Red Alert into Stalker.

Forget the fact they've already used the mold.

Oh and I also expect the club to continue to alienate it's foreign members. But hey, it's nice to see they're looking into new forum software. The current one they have sucks.

Can you seriously think that after that comic was posted and they gave him that body that the Club can't be thinking about it?

Elita-1 is my answer to that.

"hrm? What Elita-1? What are you talking about?"

Exactly.
