Ebay user Yayabeee has posted some comparison images of Hasbro's and TakaraTomy's versions of Breakaway and Sideways. The Japanese versions appear to have darker color schemes. Who's version do you like better? Check out some of the images below:

Wow, I just noticed that Sideways has some itty-bitty feet.

Haha I was jsut about to say that exact same thing:P

But yeah, my opinion of which is better will ultimately be based on which is more accurate to the movie...

Although, even if for some reason the takara ones are more accurate, there's no way in hell I'd bother with the extra money and effort required to get them imported...

So I guess it doesn't really matter because I'll be buying locally either way...

I definitely have to go with the darker color schemes. I also think someone needs to be more on top of random drug testing policies within the companies. Even my kids were wondering what the hell was up with Breakaways' design. So far Sideways is not impressing me much either. Paint job is o.k. but overall toy design is lacking and even my 10 year old found it rather boring looking. If it were just me I'd say it was no big deal but when kids find the figure designs piss-poor and disinteresting then we know Hasbro/Takara is going to have some trouble selling these. So far, Devastator and a handfull of deluxes are the only thing the new movie line has a chance of staying afloat with.

I prefer the darker colors on the jet and the lighter on the car.

But, I'm also not willing to import these, so it doesn't really matter.

Does anyone else think Sideways would make a cool repaint into Insecticon Kickback?

Well if the prices here in America keep going up on Transformers, then some us might as well import the Japanese versions if we like them better. I know I'm probably gonna get mine through BigBadToyStore.com

Of course I will decide on which of the 2 versions is more movie accurate.

Yeah, yeah he would. I think you just sold me my first Bay-former. Congrats!

Now if I can find molds that remind me of Bombshell and Shrapnel...

[edit- movie Bonecrusher for Bombshell...]
[edit 2- movie 2 Rampage for Shrapnel...]

i think i'm finally realizing i just don't like the way movie figures look... there's just too much going on with their "body parts".

sure they look super cool on the big screen but all those gears and tubes don't translate well into plastic... i mean seriously what is going on with that weird lump of red that is supposed to be sideways torso?

I like the Hasbro Sideways better and i dont like either version of Breakaway. The figure would be great but the head is in such a retarded spot. As for the color schemes though they both look ok.

The jet is dope but whats up with these lightning bolt camoflauge graphics ??? They screwed up starscream with the same stuff ??? Who thought it would look "cool" ???

Sideways is a waste of plastic but I agree with the dude that says he looks like G1 Kickback...

Took the words out of my mouth. Because of that he looks disporportional. One of the few figures I was looking forward to. Now no more.

I prefer the darker JPN colour scheme.

Aaarrrrgh! Say it isn't so, Takara!

It was bad enough with the first movie - Japan had many alternative versions for the first movie as well - Incinerator, Landmine and 77 Bumblebee being the most obvious.

Hell, I even had to buy the first wave of Real Gears twice, because in Japan the decals were different!

As a movie-line completist, it's bad enough having to spend big money on exclusives like a gold Bumblebee, pink Arcee or a pink Starscream, without the standard Japanese releases being different as well.

At least we have great sites like Seibertron on the case to ensure we find all the variants, because without the web I'd have no idea of some of this stuff.

I need a lie down now before my head explodes.

Not worth the time and effort to import.

Darker colour tones FTW, though it isn't stopping Breakaway's awkwardly-placed noggin from looking like Wall-E's. Sideways is a pretty okay figure although his tiny feet creepily remind me of the old chinese practice of foot-binding, I'll keep an eye out for the Takara version. Thank goodness I'm so close to Japan to warrant the japanese version's price to be fairly similar to standard retail.

Neither color scheme really helps the plane figure's cause... Don't really have much of a preference for the car; both are okay.
