Someone was exsplaining the Automorph technoligy that's supose to be in the new movie toys. Now I keep hearing about it like it's a new concept but it's not is it?

Just about any Basic BW toy was an automorph. You know the ones like Bat Primal and Razorclaw (I might be remembering his name wrong but I'm talking about the wart hog) where all you have to do is pull up on their tails and everything folds out on it's own. You still have mess with the robot arms and legs to fold them into the right position but for the most part everything was automatic.

The automorph isn't brand new. (Despite what Hasbro say) Like you said they did it with the small Beast Wars toys.(In fact the wart hog one was my first ever Transformer)But I don't think it has ever been done on the larger scale toys before. Personally I don't get what all the fuss is about, but seeing as I don't have any of the movie toys I could be completely wrong :-?

The Throttlebots don't have automorph technology. They just have pull back motion that works in both modes, far as I know they don't transform while moving

I think theres a difference between flip-formers like the basic BW figures and G2 cyberjets and the new automorph features. Here you're not flipping some switch to change the figure from alt to robot. You're doing one part of the transformation and a whole other piece is reacting to it. Definitely similar but not the same thing.

What about Energon Megatron, where one slides his shin/kneecaps into place and the feet flip out? Or when one pulls on his wings and those guns flip out?

Good call. That's exactly like what is in the new toys.

Automoth isn't something new, it's just the next step of TF toy evolution. They just figuered out how to make that futer better and gave it a new name. It's just like the joints, the more toys they make the better the joints get.

I'm just posting to update this. I was at Wal-Mart today and found out why I didn't see any other Movie toys before.

The regular Transformers from Cybertron, Classics, and Star Wars are all in the same general area in the corner of the store

While the movie toys are over by the baby/toddler section.

^ Bayformers located here

All they have is the Poop brown Starscreams and the Protype grey colored Optimus Prime. I really want to buy that Optimus Prime just to paint it in G1 colors because that thing looks horible. It'd look fine if it just had some kind of color to it but it looks more like Ultra Magnus right now.

-=edit=-

I couldn't use spaces so I put * for the space between the iles.

Yeah, the automorph technology is different from the Cyberjets and stuff, the closest I can think of would be the Robotmasters jets that also showed up in RID or BW Terrorsaur, where you fold the front part over and the legs pop out. On movie Brawl when you fold down the chest piece these two treads move up onto the shoulder section and the head pops up. It's not a full transformation, just a certain part. I think it's a cool little gimmick.
