WST Dirge Prototype

Wow, for those who have been waiting for the re-emergence of the Smallest Transformers line, the news has been incredible today.

It was just reported early this morning that there was a prototype WST Ramjet on Ebay.

Well, now thanks to metaphorge we have a link to pics of Ramjet with smallest Thrust...and Dirge, that's right the coneheads are together again, and I'm not talking about Dan Akroyd!

Check it out here.

These are exciting pictures! Is the smallest Transformers line on the way back

Edit: Headshot and metaphorge now give us more information. These are not officially made (or even unofficial Jusititoys). They are high quality bootlegs made by a seller on Ebay, who seems to do a fantastic job. Somebody give this person a job!

While you are right that metaphorge introduced it in the thread about Ramjet, the news was only about Ramjet. True, we could have edited the story to say that there were pics of Thrust in there as well, but what's wrong with giving Metaphorge a bit of credit for his digging and bringing more attention to these cool guys?

Although, I have not had a chance to read through the whole thread yet to see where it headed though.

Thanks for keeping us in line, metaphorge did submit it as news, but I did not know he had also posted it in the thread about WST Ramjet.

Here's a little provenance from the Ramjet thread about what's going on here:

Head Shot wrote:hmm, no i know exactly who is making this. This is the same guy whos been makign the various versions of convoy's trailer and various repaints of the seeker mold, including remolding the null rays to be more accurate to the show (he also remolded the trailer mold to make a literal scaled down version of the g2 trailer with soundbox.)

I've been expecting Heerotoysmaker, who I'm pretty sure is the artist behind the manufacture of these as well as the seller, to come up with a Ramjet and a Dirge for a few months now after I discovered that his Sunstorm, ghost Starscream etc. had upgrades to the baseline Takara WST sculpt, as well as changes that obviated the need for paint applications in the manufacture process. It would be awesome if he could get some kind of distribution deal ala the Justitoys WST Dinobots, though the ground may be shakier due to how similar these are to the Takara seeker sculpt.

I still want a solid-colored Sunstorm out of this mold, though the chromed ones are pretty nice and I would buy one if/when it was made available.

As I said in the Ramjet thread, I love this fella's work and I'll be picking these two up as soon as they become available.

In re;ation to the G1 figs, how much smaller are these?

Does anyone have a size comparison pic they can post?

heh, thanks for quoting me on that, at least now I have someone else who knows what I'm talking about as far as this guy's stuff.

Just to add to this thread:

(the person behind these recent seeker remolds, is also the man behind almost all the reproductions of convoy's wst trailer, including the ghost variations, and he is 100% behind the creation of the remolded g2 trailer, and ghost versions of starscream, skywarp, and thundercracker with the remolded "null rays". As I said in the other thread, he's had about 3 accounts, the first 2 he has deactivated, and has gone through many name changes. I can verify this to be correct, as I've been buying from "this seller" for a very long time, and each package I have received has come from the same address, yet the seller's ebay name is different, due to the many many name changes. I would highly reccomend you (the news crew) update the news posts on these two items (dirge and ramjet wstfs), that they are not justitoys figures, nor are they official. They are custom made by an ebay seller, that does an incredibly good job with these reproductions, and the plastic and paint apps are always high quality.

Not a problem. You saved me having to say a bunch of this stuff myself.

Have you ever had any luck trying to contact him directly?

directly, other than in emails? no. However every time I've ordered a "prototype" wstf, the way his/her auctions are setup are always the same style as far as description and a link to a small gallery of the figure (and the pricing and shipping is literally always the same, except for the occasional chromed over figure.) And each time I've received the figure, the seller's address and real name are always the same, despite the ebay name the person goes under being different on many of the transactions. i can see what names I have done business with that were his, give me a bit and I'll edit this post with the names.

EDIT:
here's what I can remember:
kingofthesmallest
g1tffanandmaster
g1tffan_cn1

there were a few other names, however I can't seem to find them ( I am quite sure there are about 3 or 4 more names however), but without a doubt all the boxes I have recieved have had the same name and address (despite the location of the names above saying China, I have recieved packages from the same location.)

the stock and silencer for megatron has already been made by another person (however, the plastic quality on that seller's item is very poor compared to these, and he rarely sells them on ebay. however the past 2 botcons i have seen him selling the stock and silencer, as well as a diaclone and g1 ultramagnus trailer that transforms and combines with magnus for makign the armor. However the plastic on that too is brittle and is nowhere near the quality of herotoys's products.)

As for the tracks and skids, I have my doubts about those 2 being made. All of herotoy's reproductions that I am aware of are no greater in depth than remolding the mold to accomodate such things as new wings for dirge and ramjet, or null rays for the seekers (as well as improved rear tail fins). The biggest remold I have seen him do so far is either the new wings on dirge and ramjet, or the g2 trailer he has done. So while it is hopeful that we will see tracks and skids down the line, he may not do it just because the amount of work it would take to create a new mold from scratch with nothing to even base it off of makes it seem highly unlikely/hardly worth it.

Thanks for setting me straight.

I update the story to show that it was an Ebay seller creation and that they are of very high quality.

I believe I have bought from him also (did he do the ghost Thundercracker, and Skywarp, and is he responsible for the black Starscream also?)

Thanks for the compelling facts Headshot. I love the little guys so much, but apparently, I have a long way to go before I catch all the way up!

:P

At least he payed attention to the wing & missile difference between Ramjet & Dirge. Dirge's missile's are smaller, & Ramjet's are bigger. And the wings just have extensions on the nend of Dirge's. I might get these. They would be my first WST

Hey, no problem dude, yeah he's the one behind the ghost thundercracker and skywarp, and the ehobby styled black starscream. So I'd expect to see these on ebay in not to long from now. He'll probably do ghost versions of these as well.

(and woot! first credit in the news! Yay! :D )

Like I've been saying, I do reccomend these. The plastic quality is almost if not equal to the officially released figures, and He does a decent job painting the details on too. Definetly would keep an eye on ebay for these guys if you are interested.

no problem, let me know if you get that one, because I'll still keep an eye out for one for you. I'll also try to keep an eye on any leaks for the dirge or ramjet.

Justitoys strike again with more boundary pushing G1s or are these authentic Takara?

Naw, Headshot says that it is an Ebay seller who creates his own high quality bootlegs, and sells them on Ebay. So nope, Takara has not wisened up yet, and Justitoys is still stuck in dino limbo-- we still need Swoop and Sludge.

Im pretty certain this is the same guy who does the black convoy+trailer, ghost convoy+trailer and G2 and Pepsi trailers that I have. (Although in these cases they are identical to the Takara products in everyway but colour.)

As I have mentioned in many of my other posts both in this thread and the Ramjet thread, all of those products you have listed and these seekers are by the same person...
