Snagged this limited production Hearts of Steel Optimus Prime figure. Only 15 of the red steel colored ones were made. The creator of this figure did an awesome job and the other collector that did the paint job also did an awesome job on it! It had become one of my more prized figures in my collection!

It is, certainly, beautiful.

ever since i read the hearts of steal comics i've always wanted a toy version, well my pants are happy O_O

Yea, the prototype was on display in the dealer room at BotCon (at the dealer booth of course, not Hasbro's display). Only 15 painted units? Did I read that right? I thought the word was that we would get a few hundred in a major production run. Or do they mean 15 RED units, as in the mass-produced units will be just standard metallic?

Even so, if the Cliffjumper upgrade set cost me $150 with only 300 made, then this will surely cost $300 or some such crazy amount.

I want it YESTERDAY!

Clairification: There was/is (status unknown) a more widely available version, however that is a simple matte red/blue. The metallic finish version is limited to 15 pieces.

That is a beautiful piece. Hasbro should pay you a million bucks for the rights to the design and then mass-produce it.

Of course the funny thing about this figure is that Optimus Prime never actually takes this form in Hearts of Steel - he's asleep for the whole thing! The only place where he looks like this is a concept sketch!

Very nice, a superb piece of Transformer art! i love it.. too expensive for me, but Still, nice and a great collector's item!
