Having trouble identifying this G1 figure (Nasa space shuttle)

Hi, new to the forum...hopefully I am not breaking any rules by posting this question on here. I am/was a huge fan of the original cartoon when I was a child in the 80' and I always buy any original figures that I happen to come across at flea markets, garage sales, etc. Earlier toay at the flea market I bought a figure today that I don't really remember too well. He's a NASA space shuttle and is stamped 1885 Bandai (Since it's not stamped with "Hasbro/Takara", does this mean it's the Japanese version?). I've Googled him (searching with keywords like "Transformers G1 Bandai 1985 NASA Space Shuttle") but all the pages i've found doesn't seem to know his name, either (they say "space shuttle" which I know isn't his real name). I am posting a picture I found on the net (of the same figure) to see if you can help me identify him. Again, if this kind of post (asking for help identifying something) is prohibited on the board or if this is the wrong section to post it in, I apologize! Thanks in advance to anyone that might be able to help!

Here's the figure:Image

Haha..didn't mean to put "1885"! That should have been "1985", lol!

A) You're breaking no rules, relax.
B) The fact that it says Bandai means it's not a Transformer at all.
C) In fact, I think it's Spay-C (yah, really) from the Gobots.

Thanks for the reply! Ahh..that'd explain me not remembering the character! So are you saying that no Transformers are stamped w/ "Bandai"? Hmmm...I thought they could have Takara, Hasbro, Macau or Bandai?

It's possible that some of the 1985 toys that were snarfed from other companies have their stamps.

Transformers have Hasbro and Takara stamps. Gobots or (Machine Robo to be exact) have Bandai and Tonka stamps. Well, not all the time. These groups have been licensed from Bandai or one of their subsidiaries:

Deluxe Insecticons:
- Venom
- Ransack
- Barrage
- Chop Shop

Deluxe Autobots:
- Whirl
- Roadbuster
- Jetfire

The Transformers were an unexpected hit, so Hasbro had to license toys from other companies to fill the line in 1985. From 1986 on all toys are originals from Hasbro and Takara.

But not by Bandai either. ;) Here's the rest, licensed from companies other than Bandai:

- Sky Lynx
- Omega Supreme
- Shockwave
- Mini-Spies

Aren't the G1 Dinobot molds from another toyline too? I think it was called Dino-Robo Force or something. I'm not sur about Grimlock's mold, but I know Swoop and Slag weren't originally Hasbro/Takara molds.

They all are Takara molds, WolfDawg, from Diaclone. To keep track of the different sets of figures Diaclone was divided into sub-lines. The following Diaclone sublines where incorporated into Transformers:

- Car Robo
- Dinosaur Robo
- Doublechanger (The Omnibots)
- Triplechanger
- Jet Robo
- Insecter Robo (the regular Insecticons)
- Construction Robo (Devastator)
- Train Robo (Raiden)
- Attack Robo (Jumpstarters)
- Dashers (Powerdashers)

On a side note, the Dinobots were KO'ed or even bootlegged. The most famous ones are the Prehistory Animals that feature significant remolding.
