I still don't own the new leader, but aren't the batteries stored in those pieces?
That means buster prime has no 'I AM OPTIMUS PRIME' to go off whenever you accidentally touch the shelf it sits on :p

The ROTF Leader Optimus Prime has the batteries in the headache rack on his back, where you press the button that makes the engine sounds in vehicle mode.

Transformers Toy and Movie Accuracy Discussion Thread

PostPosted: Sat Jul 11, 2009 4:27 pm
by skywarp-2
there have been allot of discussions on whether a toy is Movie accurate or is a certain gun or weapon movie accurate.. and I suppose these are gonna be some factors in whether us picky collectors buy a Transformer figure or not..

tell you the truth if the figure looks as close to accurate as possible, I'll buy it..

But there are some minor details that to me mean a whole lot.. especially that these details fall inline with movie accuracy.. albeit, not completely but close enough..

In the Transformers the 1st Movie:

Bumblebee Movie/Human Alliance Bumblebee:
Bumblebee is being driven by Mikaela down the street in the city battle with the tow truck.. Bumblebee is firing his canons off at Brawl, whose taking a beating..
over Bumblebee's left shoulder we see him fire off some small missiles from what looks to be a rocket launcher..

this same similar quality is present int he recent ROTF HA Bumblebee..now there are some differences in this figure to that of the movie, but by far it comes very close to accuracy and that small detail of the rocket launcher, knowing it is in the actual movie, makes the purchase of this figure even that much more a fantastic decision I made..

Optimus Prime Movie/Leader Class ROTF "Buster" Optimus Prime:

there is just so much that makes this figure so movie accurate.. but let us take for example that again in the first Movie for Transformers, we see int he city battle, Optimus Prime reach over his shoulder and pull a quickly transformed Buster canon off his back and hit Megatron with a nice shot, after which Megatron Gave Prime a nice return hit..

In the New Buster Optimus Prime figure, the back canisters form the weapon for prime to use, which to me, makes the back of the figure less bulky, and gives the impression that Optimus Prime's chest is more in style and proportion to that of the movie..(I wonder if this was a design idea left off originally by Hasbro, and Takara-Tomy reinstated it for it's premium "Buster" release)

in either case, these few and minute details in themselves, though not known or often thought of, make me covet and admire the more recent Transformers toys that have been released.. and I wonder when we may see a full Human Alliance or Equivalent line up coming out. Scaling isn't too much of an issue with me, and I am more interested in a movie accurate figure that is somewhat in scale then a non-accurate Movie figure that is in perfect scale..

Final Thoughts:

To me, if a Transformer toy, or any action figure for that matter, that I buy looks like it just walked out of the movie screen and into my hands in plastic.. I will definitely buy it. I want a completely movie accurate line up.. and will most likely sell off my other figures, which are not as accurate just because, I feel as if they aren't perfect to my idea of what they should be in my collection..I am a purist.. and I suppose some of you would hate that, but hey.. we all collect in different ways. ;;)

Oh Blurrz...there is no word "irrigardless" hehe.

Sorry, I just like pushing grammar buttons. This explains why they should never let me near the mysterious big red one at the Pentagon.

"Irregardless is considered nonstandard because of the two negative elements ir- and -less. It was probably formed on the analogy of such words as irrespective, irrelevant, and irreparable. Those who use it, including on occasion educated speakers, may do so from a desire to add emphasis. Irregardless first appeared in the early 20th century and was perhaps popularized by its use in a comic radio program of the 1930s."

:P

edit - Damnit nonstandard means it's not a correct word..... Curse you Vancouverites and your kryptonite grammer skills >_>

No faceplate = pass? I am so getting this one.

Also, that way I´ll be able to keep the other leader combined with Jetfire and maybe do some touch-up painting (if necessary... if they make it a Premium, it might be perfect).

As great as the figure is, the hands are just blocks, and the feet are miscolored. Weird thing to overlook.

Looks like this Prime will still have the swords. And it looks like by having the fuel tanks separate, Takara corrected a design flaw in the figure. I noticed some stress marks on mine since the fuel tank hinges push against the tabs on his back.

Haha..Oh no worries. It's fun pointing things out I am blatantly guilty for too hehe. Great name for a Transformer though "Double Negatron": He never doesn't kick an autobots ass.

This one still has swords, so at the same price you're getting more technically. Unless you're just bent on having a face plate instead of mouth, which I understand.

I like him, I'm not sure the guns and mouth are worth an extra 40 dollars, considering I have the normal, I'd rather just buy them separately. Unless they give this guy a premium paint scheme of course.

How could you tell what his hands look like? There's a giant water mark over both of them.

The one that bothers me in terms of accuracy is Leader class Megatron. So far the Voyager class (sans color scheme) looks more like the movie version.
